My Actifit Report Card: October 23 2025

This is the famous giant statue of Pharaoh Ramses II in the Abu Simbel temple in Egypt, which still amazes historians.

However, the reason why this particular picture is famous or infamous is a little different. This picture, taken in 1865, shows a black-skinned local Egyptian. At first glance, it would seem that he is also looking at the hugeness of the statue, confused. That was everyone's idea for a long time.
In 1992, this once black-and-white picture was colored with the help of technology. And then, after looking closely, historians realized the special importance of this picture.
If you look closely, you can see a word written in English letters near the chest of the statue of Pharaoh Ramses II. In fact, it is a name. The last name of a brutal English lord, 'Brown'.

The English name on the body of the pharaoh! The investigation into the matter began immediately after it was seen. To the surprise of historians, the truth came to light within a few years. It is known that in 1865, a local Egyptian worker, on the orders of his English master, risked his life to climb the giant statue of Pharaoh. Then, as instructed, he wrote five English letters. The illiterate worker probably did not even know what he was writing on the statue's body at the risk of his life. The Egyptian worker could have fallen from that height and died while doing this work.

His English master took a picture of the amazing feat of that brave Egyptian worker from a distance. Until 1997, this famous picture enhanced the name of that brutal master, Harper Brown. Even though the real truth came to light in 1997, the name of that brave Egyptian worker is still unknown.

I didn't know about that story, and I'm really not surprised that someone would do something like that, just out of vanity.
