Undeserved Ballon d'Or....Messi if guilty, who is to blame?

Many have argued the legitimacy of Leo Messi's 7th ballon d'or crown. This is because many feels that the 2021 award was given out of favoritism and not achievement, but is this really true? Personally I will say "YES" even though I am a die hard Messi fan. Without being bias, I was actually expecting to hear another name pronounced as the winner but the governing body said otherwise.

For many years, we have enjoyed the wonders of watching different teams display skills that makes many football fans want to go crazy. To cap this wonders with appreciation, the award of ballon d'or is bestowed upon the voted best player but the question remains have this process been compromised? Short answer, I don't think so but I see a loop hole.

For fairness sake, I believe the criteria for crowning the best player should be stated and made fixed . The every year criteria changes has brought about negative questions and has drastically reduced the relevance of this award. Also the introduction of new awards should be announced before every season starts. Crowning Robert Lewandoski strike of the year did seem fraudulent to many, would you blame them?

The 7th award to Messi may have had more negative impact on him because I believe he has more haters right now,but before one chooses to hate, ask yourself this IS HE (MESSI) TO BLAME OR FIFA. Religiously, people do believe in unmerited favour from God, why then should one blame someone from receiving unmerited favour from FIFA. I know we all have stones in our hand but we should endeavor to throw it in the right direction
