Me and Sports - Part 2: Mountains and Water

So here I am again with the second part of my sports story. As you could read here, I had once been a complete ball-maniac, especially the black and white leather ball fascinated me.

How did it continue in my sporting life? I want to answer this question here today!

As a young adult, I discovered the mountains and me and my buddies were drawn to snowboarding. This was a very spontaneous inspiration, which was to have long-term effects.

Because snowboarding became a sport that I have followed regularly since then, even though the trips to the slopes have become less in recent years. The mountains are too far, and the time is just not enough. But I have already rocked the slopes in 6 different countries on 4 different continents! And I hope to be able to expand this record a little more.

With nostalgia I also remember the time I spend swinging a golf club. Of course, I never made it onto a well-kept lawn. Our golf courses then were more like run-down factories and warehouses. The fun factor in cross golf is great, and rules are not needed. Just a few balls and a club. That's right, one club for all purposes was perfectly adequate. However, the important thing was that the physical well-being was also taken care of, someone had to be in charge of sufficient drinks. This was a very important aspect of the event. In the cold season some stronger warm beverages were very useful and strengthened our perseverance even more.

Again, there was no time limit, but we were rather limited by the fact that the loss of material (i.e. balls) can be enormous.

I also dared to go into the water.

Here I remember in particular my attempts at surfing and rafting. Both of course on the southern side of the hemisphere, where it seems to be always warm. Surfing is a cool thing, but it is also pretty exhausting. Unfortunately I never really mastered surfing, but it's also the lifestyle and the whole experience that attracted me. But I can definitely put it on the list of sports I've done, I've even dared to ride the waves in three different countries.

And rafting is something I strongly recommend to anyone who is not too scared. Twice I made it onto a rubber boat, once in Argentina and the other time in New Zealand. A very intense ride, which as an amateur you probably shouldn't do on your own. But as I said, I can only recommend it.

In addition, there have been many other attempts with various balls and equipment in my life. And I would like to go to a playing field or a sports hall at any time to try something new and to get active again.

My excuse now is always the lack of time, which unfortunately is all kinda true. Hopefully one day that will change again, and then I will look for a completely new and unusual sport.

How about you guys? What sports have you tried in your life? Where did you get stuck and what can you recommend trying out?

I think that if you love sports you will try anything and you seem to have tried them all. There are no limits as long as it is something active and fun.

Yes being active and having fun is essential. And also spending time with others which is rather difficult these days, but hopefully things will become easier soon. Thanks for stopping by, have a great Wednesday!
