Battle of the Arena

I didn't watch the first round of Champions League matches, mostly because of the absence of my beloved football team. Heck, I didn't watch the Europa League matches either. It was not a case of being too ashamed to accept the reality of things, it was that of not finding enough motivation to watch any of those matches.

In typical fashion, Manchester United lost their Europa League encounter with Real Sociedad. For all the talk about them playing well and getting robbed by a contentious officiating decision, I am not moved. They've won the last four EPL games without playing fantastically well, yet I've been happy because all that matters right now is winning. Losing to a club that has never won against any English side before is embarrassing.

Well, the only thing Manchester United has been consistent at in the last 10 years is dishing out embarrassing results in different sizes, shapes and colours no matter the manager or playing staff involved. Sociedad is probably the only team in Man Utd's Europa League group that I can remember. I don't even want to know all those Amalekites and Hittites from the underworld of European football they are paired with. Of all Man Utd's remaining Europa League matches, I will watch the one against Sociedad in Spain. That is as far as I can go.

However, I'll be ending my self-imposed strike from watching the Champions League this evening. Barcelona bamboozled the football world by propagating a pitiful, impoverished picture of themselves only to go ahead and sign the best available players in the transfer market. Those guys pranked us all and are even getting praised for it.

Javier Tebas has spent the last few years roaring like a wild animal and tormenting the likes of Man City and PSG with Financial Fair Play rules. The dude is quiet like an overfed cat now that one of his favourites is snatching players left, right and centre while selling everything linked to Catalunya in return. Even the blades of Camp Nou grass are no longer safe from Laporta's grasp. He will probably auction some for more money anytime soon.

So, I've only seen Barcelona play once since they got all those players. Likewise, I've only watched Sadio Mane play once since he joined Bayern. Also, Barcelona are playing against the European team that has embarrassed them the most in recent history. As if that's not enough to spice it all up, add the return of Lewandowski and the promise of one ridiculously gorgeous Argentine presenter to go naked if Barcelona win by a three goal margin to the mix and we've got ourselves an absolute thriller of a fixture.

We've seen the Battle of the Bridges before, this is going to be the Battle of the Arena. Will the resurgent Barcelona finally avenge some of the punishments they've suffered against this flailing Bayern Munich? I won't miss a single minute of that match for anything.

This season F. C. Barcelona has a very different image from the previous season, has managed to handle very well the signings and has great figures. on the other hand this will be a very interesting chapter of the novel of Lewandowski in the team to face his former team where he was forged as a star, I expect a good show. Thank you for your considerations.

They've done well with the signings, they signed high calibre players. I hope they do well this season. The world needs them to challenge Real Madrid and make El Clasico the most interesting matchup in club football once again.

Lol... I still don't understand why Manchester United lost that game when it is already an uninspiring one for the fans to watch.

But then, I'm not in the right position to make caricature of any team because my team is in shambles 😂.

While watching Sadio tonight, remember to also keep a tab on what will be happening in Anfield 😂. Haha.

Thanks for sharing this on DreemPort

Don't mind those nonsense Man U guys. They laboured to win four games and we already assumed all is well. Arsenal could've scored five against them.

Mane struggled last night. With Lewandowski's movement causing so much trouble for Upamecano and Hernandez, Bayern actually miss the Polish striker as much as Liverpool miss Mane.

Lol. Last week's performance was unacceptable, but after the break they had because of the situation surrounding football in England, I believe Man United will surely get a win this week. They can't complain about fatigue or something like that. They need to win convincingly.

As for Sadio Mane, he placed himself in good position throughout the match, but it felt like he wasn't getting the pass when he needs it. Even when he was in a good position to shoot, he decided to pass instead. Haha

That was my first time watching him properly at Bayern Munich. Those lads have many people who can play from the back and eye a goal upfront. I really hope he gets to be given some really good passes.

Lewandowski on the other hand was like someone that is missing his girl after a break-up. He could have scored some clear-cut chances in that game, but we know how it ended. Haha

I hope they win. They may have to win the Europa League if they wish to play Champions League football next season.

Mane isn't Lewandowski. Mane is a forward who relies on runs into the box for goals. Lewandowski is a typical box 18 striker. Bayern played against Barcelona without a recognized centre forward. Mane regularly drifted to the left of attack as Musiala, the AMF, drifted inwards
Lewandowski would've stayed in the box and wait for the ball. They'll get used to him on the long run. But, if he doesn't play as a CF, he is in for a tough time with Gnabry and Coman presenting considerable competition for places.

Lewandowski probably forgot his scoring boot at home. He should've buried at least one of the chances he was presented with.

In the first half, Barcelona came in hard but their finishing is the problem, Lewandoski seems to be missing his ex😂

I was actually surprised he missed those chances, especially the one he skied. That was an open net for the Lewandowski I know. Barcelona had the batter chances but somehow failed to score. Pedri chose to clip the post when played through on goal. They will gain much courage from their performance, they played well.

haha yeah, they have been pretty dire since Ferguson and Ronaldo left (the first time). I grew up a Man Utd fan but have not been able to watch for a few years now due to both lack of time and interest. I have other things that I prefer to do with my time... but I do feel for those who are still following the games loyally. The club really do need to get rid of the Glazers. They were the start of the rot...taking money out the club, leveraging it with debt. Investors not football lovers. Sad times, my friend I came here from FDreemport this evening. !PIZZA !ALIVE

It's unfortunate how the tables can quickly turn. That club was built for continuous sporting and financial success. Those Glazer dudes just spoilt the fun.

It's unlike Manchester united, I didn't expect them losing the game. My husband was so so angry at them but we hope the better days ahead 👍

Hoping for better days too, but they've been sleepwalking for a while that all hope seems to be lost. I hope they get back to competing at the top.
