For some reasons I can't really fathom, maybe sentiments, I think Spain and Germany will progress from this group. Lightening rarely strikes twice in the same place, so I'm not expecting Japan or Costa Rica to notch an upsetting result against the two European heavyweights.

This is what I also see. Match day 3 are the times where big teams steps up the most. But who knows, just like 2018 everyone is expecting Germany to beat South Korea so that they can advance to the knockout stage but they failed to do that.
Germany was probably suffering from 'winner's curse' back then, they will unshackle themselves this time. 😃
