The Case For Saka

When I saw Arsenal hit Crystal Palace for five goals, I was jubilant. The winter break fixtures have been terrible on my FPL team, with dependable assets like Foden and Watkins drawing a ridiculous blank ( I really pity those who captained Watkins).

So you can imagine my happiness when I saw Arsenal hit their London neighbours with five goals. Obviously, there is no way Arsenal will score five goals without Saka having at least an assist. "He is so crucial to their rise and fall," I thought.

Bukayo Saka has scored one goal, against Fulham, in the last six games. In that time frame, he's recorded neither an assist nor a bonus point. It's a worrying loss of form considering he delivered attacking returns in four straight games before the lull started in the 1-0 loss to Aston Villa. A 2-0 home win against Brighton followed a tough away day at Liverpool.

Is Saka now dispensable?

Considering the unconvincing form the Arsenal team as a whole have shown in front of goal in the last six games, Saka's form isn't a surprise. Odegaard's assist and three bonus points against Liverpool was all the Norwegian returned in that time frame. As for Martinelli, he's blanked in four of the last five games like his fellow attackers before coming in to score twice in the dying minutes of the game against Palace. Without doubt, Arsenal attackers have struggled of late.

Saka: Sell or Hold?

Asides blockbuster fixtures against Liverpool and Newcastle, both at the Emirates Stadium, Saka's fixtures in the next eight games looks very promising. They play Nottingham Forest next, and will play Burnley, Brentford and Sheffield United in the next eight gameweeks. It doesn't get simpler than playing those relegation strugglers. And if the Crystal Palace game is a precursor of something to come for the Gunners, Saka will be delivering attacking points again. He's a hold!

His points return has been very frustrating recently.

I wish I could relate but it turns I'm not a football fan. 😅

That's understandable; different strokes for different folks.

Thanks for stopping by.
