The Little Lady was crouched over her phone screen no doubt staring at something on it which was screaming BUY ME!
Uh, hang on.
I logged into her bank account on my phone sighing inwardly at the Boom Curse which hung heavily over my head.
What is the Boom Curse I hear you cry?
It is simple. I am a techy guy. I always have been. From a young age I was the go to guy in my house for fixing TVs, VCRs and the like. When I got older I was always the one changing settings on tablets and fixing phones for other people.
In short, I was the free IT Support for every relative in my life.
Naturally, when I had kids I thought I had hit the jackpot. Time to hand over the mantle. No doubt these little buzzing fruits of my loins would be afire with technical knowledge which surely must have been a built-in part of my man-batter.
But no, both of them had all the technological aptitude of a baby seal with its head trapped in a wet sock.
And so, I was stuck in the horrifying purgatory of being the only guy in the house that could change settings on the TV, tell the difference between types of USB leads and wipe their own arse. Ok, maybe I lied about the last bit. 75% of the house can maybe wipe their own arse.
But I digress!
You have 26 earth pounds young lady.
I flicked her banking app away with a swipe that would have given Zorro a semi.
26 pounds, brilliant. Now, what can I spend it on?
Her eyes gleamed with the excitement of the young.
Hmm, you could probably buy a million BLURT to become a Blurt Whale.
I chortled and clapped myself on the back at my sterling wit.

Despite the fact she was nearing her teenage years and was more and more resembling one of those snarky kids from any Scooby Doo movie, she still loved the touristy plastic tat that was sold in Holiday towns.

I nodded at her, willing the message to sink in. That message being of course that I was sick of bankrolling her on holiday.
Her look of confusion slowly cleared to one of disdainful understanding.
No thanks, I think I will just spend it now.
She leapt up and ran to go up to her room giggling at the thought of blowing all her money on shit.

I sighed and got up from my chair.

This is parenting in the digital age at its finest: juggling sarcasm, apps, mysterious USB cables, and dreams of a beer and curry.

Back in the day, when there was no internet, in the month or two leading up to our annual beach week vacation, my parents would start letting us "earn" some beach money. Sure, in fact, they were still spending their own money, but whatever we earned, we could spend freely and then it was done on the plastic tat... or seashell and glitter encrusted boxes. Getting beach money made snapping beans and doing chores feel better. Of course after vacation, we were thinking maybe we should be paid for all those chores all the time. LOL.....Those were the days !

Then you had to be dumb and "call me out" in one of your derivative "curation" posts again. I downvoted that, told you to behave yourself, and asked if you really thought that was a smart course of action. It seems you did. Do you really think starting this feud again is a smart idea? I've only downvoted your spam on my posts and comments so far. That can change.

You copied the same long, unwelcome, irrelevant reply 4 times to one of my posts in addition to other comments. That is spam, whether you acknowledge it or not. As you like to say, the blockchain does not lie. Your actions are there for any honest observer to see.
If I see that kind of nonsense (and I am being polite with that word) on my posts or in browsing Hive, I will downvote it. If you continue to copy/paste it on my posts and in reply to my comments, I will resume zeroing all rewards your content. These are my terms. Take it or leave it.
I do not care what you say about buildawhale. I do not have any control over what others do here. As should be obvious from your continued behavior, I have no control over you, either, after all. But you have total control over your blog. Stop your hostility and dishonesty.

Sorry about the comments here turning into a resumption of my feud with the BPC spammers.
There have been complaints around legacy social media that Gen X and Millennials are the only ones who know how to use technology. We set up VCRs and learned computers in the 80s and 90s. We grew up with the early web and learned hard lessons about what to trust. We saw the emergence of Photoshop and parody news our elders took at face value. Now we see a younger generation who grew up with the idea of replacing phones and tablets every couple years, and believe artificial intelligence is actually smart and trustworthy.
You do have done good points but none more so than the AI one. They really do think that of AI. There is no inherent or instinctive or even learned distrust of them.
The tech stuff is where I struggle with their lack of understanding. Even the switch it off and on again joke is beyond them!
Even making sure things are plugged in isn't crazy. I've seen cables jostled loose enough to not work but still pass a cursory visual inspection. Whenever a computer would fail to turn on at the library, my first check was what kids had potentially been meddling with the day before.
I am forever following let's back to their origin and saying... I mean you have checked it's plugged in haven't you? The answer is always yes of course but the reality is no they haven't!

They all learned eventually when they wanted something expensive and couldn't get it because money was burning a hole in their pockets and we refused to bail them out/make up the difference XD Youngest took the longest to learn as I think he had some impulse control issues which he is mostly on top of now.
Mine are at the impulse control stage. Or lack of. I know they will get better, I am just being an impatient bassa when they just see shiny shiny and want to splurge!

Nothing like a Meesterboom post to brighten up the day! I've missed reading you my friend. As the go-to IT person in my inner circle I can sympathize. Most of the time I'm having to work remotely/blindly since my Mom lives 800 miles away. It's funny how children are either spenders or savers. My younger brother could not stand to even have a few coins in his pocket when we were younger. We'd go to the local Ben Franklin store, which was like an old fashioned general store, and he'd fill up on penny candy.
I am trying my best to get back in to the flow of writing the odd post. I really got out the habit and then it seemed like everything snowballed!

Coffee and tea mixed, with either condensed milk or evaporated. We drink this in HK...high in caffine, high in flavour, silky creamy smooth when using evaporated milk..and very very nice.
Basically you gotta brew your own BLACK TEA. Black tea is basically lots of normal loose tea leaves, boiled in a massive pot. You slow boil it on a low heat (if you don't have loose leaves, you can use PG tips, or whatever t-bag you enjoy baggin, gotta get da bagz). Note: you must use a fuck ton of leaves.
You slow boil the shit outta it til it turns blacker than the ace of spades...it should make you think of some Witch-Brew.
Now you have black tea, which is the basis for many Asian style drinks (HK tea, HK pulled tea, Taiwan Bubble Tea, Brave-Smoke's Fire-Brew).
Now store this black tea in a glass bottle and put in the fridge...using this to make ice latte, ice tea (evaporated milk...or you get check out a farm in Redditch called STRAIGHT FROM THE COW...raw milk, best milk i've ever had since the 2000s, it's basically English glass bottle milk yum GIVE ME DA UDDER ONE), or even on it's own if ya badman is very nice.
The tea is very adaptable.
