Fantastic winter. My Actifit Report Card: February 4 2023
I woke up at 5am today. One hour before my alarm clock. Perhaps it was anxiety about weather conditions for my planned hike. I starting checking one weather forecast after another, looking desperately for one that would not be too bad. However, all agreed - windy and snowfall.
Apprehensive as I was, I still decided to go, having a backup plain in my head.
When we arrived at our starting point, it was indeed windy, but nothing that would deter me. A matter of proper clothing. Heavy clouds there were, but no snowfall. So we set forth. My party was a mixed group, aged between 30 and 60+
The beginning was about it as far the gloomy forecast was a concern. As we progressed, the conditions were improving by the minute. The wind blew away the clouds and subsided. When we entered a forest, it was quite calm there. Temp just below zero, but low humidity. The only challenge was deep snow, as our trail wasn’t a popular one.
We enjoyed the day very much. In the end the skies were blue, sun shining and fresh snow underfoot.
I am not saying here one should disregard weather forecasts. I treat mountains with respect, especially in winter. I took all precautions possible and gave it a go. So glad I didn’t stay home!
