Ser aficionado del Arsenal no es algo común en los tiempos que corren, pues aunque muchas personas pueden crear cierta afinidad por el escudo y su idiosincrasia, a los londinenses les falta algo muy importante para crear una afición fuerte a nivel mundial, títulos importantes. Es cierto que después de la salida de Arsene Wenger, los Gunners no han tenido su mejor época, pero la llegada de un hombre de la casa, con ideas de un fútbol más ofensivo y vistoso, que representa los valores del club, fue algo necesario para iniciar un nuevo proceso, y aunque se ha mejorado al equipo, se han levantado algunos títulos menores, y cada vez se toma al Arsenal más como un equipo favorito para ganar las principales competiciones que como un relleno, lo cierto es que ya muchos se empiezan a cansar de ser los eternos segundones.
Being an Arsenal fan isn't common these days. While many people may feel a certain affinity for the badge and its ethos, the Londoners lack something crucial to cultivate a strong global fanbase: major titles. It's true that after Arsène Wenger's departure, the Gunners haven't had their best period, but the arrival of a club legend, with a more attacking and attractive style of football that embodies the club's values, was necessary to begin a new era. And although the team has improved, they've won some minor trophies, and Arsenal are increasingly seen as a favorite to win major competitions rather than just a placeholder, the truth is that many are starting to tire of being perennial runners-up.
Para mala suerte de Mikel Arteta, todo su estancia como técnico del Arsenal ha coincidido con los mejores años de Guardiola en el Manchester City, así como con gran parte de la era Klopp y la llegada de Arne Slot, sufriendo del mayor duepolio en la época de la Premier League, pues los últimos 7 campeonatos se han repartido entre estos dos equipos. Pero este año 2025 hasta presentando la mejor oportunidad para los Gunners de romper esa sequía de 21 años sin alzar el trofeo de campeón, pues no sólo son uno de los mejores equipos en la actualidad, con jugadores de los mejores del mundo en cada línea y una riqueza táctica muy interesante, sino que además tanto citizens como Reds están teniendo problemas de regularidad, y solo el Chelsea esta dando la cara por el resto de equipos del Big Six.

Esto plantea un situación inmejorable para cambiar el paradigma implantando en Inglaterra, y el equipo esta mentalizado en esto, pues tras las primeras 12 fechas, se encuentran como los punteros del campeonato con 29 puntos, es 6 del Chelsea que es segundo, mientras que el City se mantiene tercero a 7, y el Liverpool, ya casi se descolgó de la lucha al estar en la posición 11, sumando apenas 18 puntos. Esta situación no es nueva para el Arsenal, ya en años anteriores han sacado cierta ventaja en el primer puesto, pero con cierres de campaña deficientes, han permitido que sobre todo el equipo de Guardiola los rebase en las últimas fechas, demostrando una irregularidad impropia de esa temporada, probablemente secundario a la presión autoinfligida.
This presents an ideal opportunity to change the established paradigm in England, and the team is focused on this. After the first 12 matches, they sit atop the league table with 29 points, six ahead of second-place Chelsea, while City remains third with seven points. Liverpool, on the other hand, has almost fallen out of contention, currently in 11th place with just 18 points. This situation is not new for Arsenal; in previous years, they have held a comfortable lead, but poor finishes to the season have allowed Guardiola's team, in particular, to overtake them in the final stages, demonstrating an inconsistency uncharacteristic of this season, likely due to self-imposed pressure.
Más allá del superequipo que formaron para afrontar esta campaña, reforzando todas las líneas con jugadores como Zubimendi, Gyokeres, Piero Hincapié o Eberechi Eze, lo que lo hacen uno de los más completos y balanceados del mundo, la base de esta plantilla ha adquirido más experiencia, y si las lesiones respetan, estamos ante uno de los rivales más difíciles de batir, no por decir que marcarles un único gol es algo ya de por sí, complicado. Esto se entiende mirando el área defensiva, Gabriel Magalhaes y William Saliba son posiblemente la mejor pareja de centrales en la actualidad, David Raya se ha consolidados como uno de los mejores porteros de la Premier League, y por los laterales, Timber y Calafiori dan mucha solvencia defensiva, al ser centrales reconvertidos, además de que cada vez se suman mejor al ataque.

If injuries don't prevent them from becoming one of the toughest opponents to beat, not to mention that scoring even a single goal against them is already a challenge. This is evident in their defense: Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba are arguably the best center-back pairing in the world right now; David Raya has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League; and at full-back, Timber and Calafiori provide excellent defensive solidity, having converted center-backs and increasingly contributing to the attack.
En el mediocampo, es jugador más importante de lo que llevamos de temporada ha sido Martín Zubimendi, que no sólo ha complementado muy bien su zaga central, ayudando a cubrir espacios en el retroceso, sino que además es el director de orquesta, el encargado de que la pelota vaya de un lado a otro, contando con la capacidad de romper líneas de presión para llegar a rematar, sumando también un par de goles en el proceso. En la delantera, se esperaba más de Gyokeres, pero le ha costado adaptarse al sistema de Arteta, mientras que Eze, que llegó por su preferencia por los colores de la camiseta, esta siendo una de las grandes novedades, pudiendo jugar desde la media punta o por los extremos, y ya el pasado fin de semana, en el Derby londinense contra el Tottenham, ganó los corazones de los aficionados con su triplete, destrozando al máximo rival Gunner.
In midfield, the most important player so far this season has been Martín Zubimendi. Pero lo que para mí es lo mejor de todo, es la consolidación de la ideas de Arteta, quien ha demostrado no ser el típico entrenador que muere con una única idea de juego, sino que es capaz de adaptar su planteamiento de acuerdo a las necesidades del partido, pudiendo entregar la iniciativa a su rival, programando a su equipo para atacar en transiciones rápidas, o en cambio, decidir tener el control del juego a través de posesiones largas. Incluso, esto ha llegado a tal extremo, que una de las sensaciones en ataque ha sido Mikel Merino, un mediocampista llegador, que gracias a su corpulencia y altura, ha podido adaptarse a la posición de centro delantero, marcando varios goles importantes, sumado a que puede funcionar también como un distribuidor en esa zona del campo, permitiendo más juego ofensivo a los extremos y al media punta.
But what I find most remarkable is the consolidation of Arteta's ideas. He has proven not to be the typical manager who sticks to a single playing style, but rather someone capable of adapting his approach to the needs of the match. He can cede the initiative to the opponent, setting his team up for quick transitions, or conversely, opt to control the game through long spells of possession. This has even gone so far as to make Mikel Merino, a midfielder who gets forward and, thanks to his size and height, has adapted to the center-forward position, scoring several important goals. Furthermore, he can also function as a distributor in that area of the pitch, allowing more attacking options for the wingers and the attacking midfielder.
Otro factor importante ha sido el cambio de mentalidad de la plantilla, que comenzó el año pasado consiguiendo victorias titánicas en Inglaterra y Europa, llegando a eliminar al Real Madrid en cuartos de final, con baño futbolístico agregado. Este año contra equipos del Big Six, solamente ha perdido contra el Liverpool, aunque pudo decantarse para cualquier equipo por la igualdad que vimos en el juego, empató contra el City en el último suspiro, y a falta de enfrentarse al Chelsea el próximo fin de semana, ha logrado vencer tanto a United como a Tottenham, únicamente saldando en empate del resto de partidos, su duelo contra el Sunderland, equipo revelación de la actual temporada, y que sorprendenteme, en ese momento se encontraba en plazas europeas.

Por todo esto, esa racha negativa del Arsenal tiene que romperse este año, desde el Arsenal de los invencibles, nunca en el Emirates se había visto un equipo de completo y bien armado como este, con las ideas claras, pero con capacidad de reacción ante diferentes planteamientos rivales, y a diferencia de otros años, ya parecen un equipo ganador, viéndoles esa aura necesaria para remontar un partido, pero lo que más les afecto en años anteriores, es que ahora son capaces de cerrar los partidos, viendo a todo el equipo implicado en tareas defensivas y ofensivas. No estoy seguro si la afición puede aguantar otra decepción, por lo que estoy convencido que el proyecto Arteta está en tela de juicio actualmente, y seria una lástima que este ciclo llegará a su final sin levantar algún título importante, porque más allá de hablar únicamente de la Premier League en este escrito, en Champions también son favoritos, al menos para llegar a instancias decisivas.
For all these reasons, Arsenal's negative streak has to end this year. Not since the Invincibles have we seen such a complete and well-organized team at the Emirates, with clear ideas but also the ability to react to different opposing approaches. Unlike in previous years, they now look like a winning team, displaying the necessary aura to turn a game around. But what hurt them most in previous years is that now they are capable of closing out matches, with the entire team involved in both defensive and offensive duties. I'm not sure if the fans can endure another disappointment, so I'm convinced that Arteta's project is currently under scrutiny, and it would be a shame if this cycle came to an end without winning a major title. Because beyond just discussing the Premier League in this piece, they are also favorites in the Champions League, at least to reach the decisive stages.
