El Arsenal llegaba a la jornada 19 de la Premier League con la posibilidad de afianzarse en la cima de la tabla y dar un golpe en la mesa, pues se enfrentaba en el Emirates con el equipo con la mejor racha actual, 13 victorias en las últimas 14 jornadas, el Aston Villa de Unai Emery, quienes apenas en la quinta jornada estaban a 12 puntos de la punta y en puestos de descenso, y para este juego, ya están en la tercera posición, a sólo 3 unidades de los Gunners. Por otra parte, los de Arteta habían reducido su ventaja sobre el City de Guardiola luego de la derrota contra los mismos villanos hace un par de fechas, por lo que este juego significaba también una revancha.

Pese a que Unai Emery leyó muy bien la táctica de Arteta, realmente no hubieran ocasiones claras en esos primeros 45 minutos, pues plantó un bloque medio muy compacto, que obligaba al Arsenal a jugar por las bandas, haciendo tanto que Saka como Trossard tuvieran que jugar en inferioridad numérica posicional, mientras que por el medio Odegaard y Gyokeres apenas recibieron balones.
As expected, the game was anything but easy for Arsenal. From the first minute, both teams defended deep in their own areas, creating a lot of friction in midfield. La noticia negativa para Arteta fue la lesión de Gabriel Magalhaes, quien luego de perderse 9 partidos e ir volviendo poco a poco a dinámica, pocos minutos luego de marcar salió con una nueva lesión muscular, por lo que su disponibilidad para la fase decisiva de la temporada está entredicha. Pero no podemos quedarnos solo con lo negativo, pues Ben White volvió a los terrenos de juego, lo que permitirá una adecuada rotación en defensa, mientras que la vuelta del delantero brasileño es para mí el mejor regalo posible de Navidad para el técnico español, pues desde mi perspectiva, es mucho mejor delantero para el esquema del equipo que Victor Gyokeres, ya que tiene más calidad para jugar y mejor movilidad en el tercio final, haciendo que las rotaciones en ataque de los delanteros sea un arma más efectiva por la impredecibilidad en la marca rival.

El nivel individual de cada jugador del Arsenal también es algo muy positivo, David Raya una solvencia bajo palo qué no se veía desde los tiempos de Jens Lehmann, quedando ya para el recuerdo una atajada bajo palos a pocos minutos del final, que pudo haber significado algo más ante la respuesta desesperada del Aston Villa. Otro jugador que hay que resaltar es Martin Zubimendi, quien se convirtió en el eje del equipo, encargado del equilibrio defensivo y la salida del balón, pero quien además, bajo el esquema de Arteta se ha vuelto una especie de mediocampista box to box, capaz de romper líneas de presión con sus movimientos, llegando al área con libertades, marcando 3 goles en lo que llevamos de Premier League.

La pregunta final que quiero responder, y algo que esta en boca de todos, ¿Será el Arsenal capaz de ganar la Premier League? Aunque el Aston Villa llegó con opciones de luchar, esta derrota los deja muy mal posicionados a 6 puntos de la cima, mientras que el City esta a sólo 5 puntos, con un partido menos, aún no consiguen su mejor nivel competitivo, y Guardiola ha tenido que cambiar muchos aspectos tácticos de su equipo, degenerando más descontrol e impredecibilidad, pero justamente por eso han perdido control en el mediocampo. Viendo todo eso, lo único que puedo decir es que esta liga depende únicamente de lo que haga el Arsenal, actualmente son el equipo más competitivo, con mejor plantilla y mejor trabajo táctico, por lo que lo único que veo que puede ser diferencial es la mentalidad, y que no se marquen un "nuevo Arsenal', si me entienden.

Considering all of this, the only thing I can say is that this league depends solely on what Arsenal does. They are currently the most competitive team, with the best squad and the best tactical approach, so the only thing I see that could make the difference is their mentality, and that they don't do an "Arsenal," if you understand what I mean.
