Nous avions gagné notre match 3-0 contre le Botswana.
La RDC non favorite, a vraiment pris du caractère et de l'élevation matchs après matchs durant cette compétition.
Chaque victoire est une signification importante pour nos frères et soeurs à l'est du pays; qui sont meurtris par la guerre. C'est également une voie qui permet à notre nation de plus se faire connaître au travers du monde car le silence des médias se fait lourd…
Ensuite vint ce jour le match de 8ème de finale contre l'Algérie.

Each victory is hugely significant for our brothers and sisters in the east of the country, who have been ravaged by war. It is also a way for our nation to become better known throughout the world, as the media silence is deafening...

Purée, ce match je devais le voir chez un ami qui malheureusement devais travailler. N’ayant pas toutes les chaînes ni le câble à la maison, j’ai donc commencé à le voir par le biais de mon téléphone. Ayant eu une soeur congolaise qui m’avait invité à venir le voir dans un bar: je m’y suis dirigée à la deuxième mi-temps tout en y préparant mon makeup.
Arrivée là-bas; acclamée comme la mascotte et encore telle une folle de star je m’écriais: “One, two, tree, viva la chicotte!!! Cela sans savoir qu’à la fin du match ce serait nous qui recevrâme la fameuse chicotte...🤣😵😱

Damn, I was supposed to watch this match at a friend's house, but unfortunately he had to work. Not having all the channels or cable at home, I started watching it on my phone. I had a Congolese sister who invited me to come and watch it in a bar, so I headed there in the second half while doing my makeup.
When I got there, cheered on like a mascot and still acting like a crazy fan, I shouted, "One, two, three, viva la chicotte!!! Little did I know that at the end of the game, we would be the ones receiving the famous chicotte...🤣😵😱
J’ai vraiment passé une merveilleuse fin de soirée en ayant rencontré de nouvelles personnes incroyable et en finissant par mon bro … qui m’a offert une part de pizza. Trop cool et oui c’est aussi cela l’Afrique: entre la joie, la tristesse, l’unité et surtout le partage. 😇🤗💕

Nous avions fait match nul pour l’ensemble de la rencontre, ensuite vint les prolongations. Première prolongation; toujours 0-0. Deuxième prolongation 0-0 et juste à la dernière minute de la fin de la seconde prolongation ahhhhh la catastrophe!!!!!!
Le but incroyablement magnifique d’Adil Boulbina. Eh oui, ce jeune espoir avec sa première qualification en la coupe d’afrique des nations; il fit un sans faute décisif!
BRAVO L’ALGÉRIE 🇩🇿
We drew throughout the entire match, then went into extra time. First extra time: still 0-0. Second extra time: 0-0, and then, in the last minute of the second extra time, ahhhhh, disaster!!!!!!
Adil Boulbina scored an incredibly beautiful goal. Yes, this young hopeful, playing in his first Africa Cup of Nations, made a decisive mistake!

De par toi notre "mascotte" et surtout le plus emblématique supporteur constant et investi lors de chaques matchs de cette CAN. Tu nous a tous fait honneur et de plus tu es en quelque sorte la fierté d’une nation et y propage également un message plus que puissant. Tel que "Debout Congolais"; comme il est chanté dans notre hymne.
Ah oui, eh ouais, à ce jour; le monde entier à les yeux rivé sur la RDC. Nous ne sommes plus invisibles de surtout de la part du silence des médias et au niveau international.
En effet, l’acte de mon grand frère; a permis de mettre en avant une grande partie de l’histoire de notre nation. Malgré que beaucoup, enfin pour dire vrai que la majorité des gens qui ont vu l’ont pris au début pour un fou ou ne comprenaient pas ce qu’il faisait. Par contre, nous le peuple et cela dès le départ; avions tous compris et ainsi adopté ce Grand Frère car ce fut plus que puissant et fort!
Grand rappel envers L'Histoire du pays qui se nommait auparavant Le Zaïre mais plus encore envers ce Grand Homme: Patrice Emery Lumumba.

Oh yes, indeed, to this day, the whole world has its eyes fixed on the DRC. We are no longer invisible, especially in terms of media silence and at the international level.
Indeed, my big brother's actions have helped to highlight a large part of our nation's history. Although many, or rather, to be honest, most people who saw him initially thought he was crazy or didn't understand what he was doing. However, we, the people, understood from the outset and embraced this Big Brother because what he did was more than powerful and strong!

Ce slogan provient un peu en quelque sorte des bas-fonds... La guerre qui malheureusement perdure jusqu'à présent, a tellement détruit le pays et le peuple entier que le nombre de victimes dépasse l'entendement. Malgré tout, la nation reste debout! ELOKO YA MAKASSI a dès lors une grande signification dans le sens de: "RÉSISTENCE ET RÉSILIENCE".
De par une multitude d’opprésseurs: nous avons été blessés, meurtris, violés, pillés, emprisonnés, humilés. Malgré tout ceci; l’on a une force intérieur qui nous a permis et nous permets de garder la force et de surmonter toutes les épreuves et surtout se relever et de continuer à combattre pour l’avenir de la RD Congo.
Dès lors, la philosophie de cette résilience est juste associée à notre vraie histoire.
This slogan comes from the depths of despair, in a way... We have been wounded, bruised, raped, pillaged, imprisoned, and humiliated by a multitude of oppressors. Despite all this, we have an inner strength that has enabled us and continues to enable us to remain strong, overcome all trials, and above all, get back up and continue to fight for the future of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Therefore, the philosophy of this resilience is rightly associated with our true history.
UN PEU D’HISTOIRE - A LITTLE HISTORY
À l’époque de la colonisation, le roi sanguinaire Léopold II: plus meurtrier qu’Hitler avait commencé l’exploitation de mon peuple et, par conséquent, le processus d’extinction d’une grande partie de la population congolaise. Ayant causé au minimum entre 10 et 15 millions de victimes.
Depuis lors et jusqu'à présent malheureusement, la RDC subit depuis plus de trente ans un génocide de sa population, alors même que cette terre est riche et sacrée, dotée d’une multitude de ressources, et surtout de matériaux essentiels à la durabilité de l’économie mondiale.
C’est dans ce contexte que, le 2 juillet 1925, naquit Patrice Emery Lumumba. Il était un leader jeune et très charismatique, qui fut assassiné le 17 janvier 1961. Par ailleurs, l’Algérie, à cette époque, était une nation révolutionnaire qui a joué un rôle important dans l’histoire congolaise : en effet, elle a permis la capture du commanditaire de l’assassinat de Lumumba et, surtout, ne l’a pas livré malgré les fortes pressions internationales venant de toutes parts.
Ainsi, le récent match entre la RDC et l’Algérie a représenté pour moi un symbole à la fois historique et puissant.
En définitif, Patrice Emery Lumumba est un grand personnage historique qui incarnait l'indépendance, la dignité, l’unité africaine et la résistance face au colonialisme et au néocolonialisme. Aujourd’hui encore, malgré sa mort, son message et son idéologie continuent d’inspirer énormément d’Africains ainsi que de nombreuses personnes à travers le monde. 🌍
During the colonial era, the bloodthirsty King Leopold II, who was more murderous than Hitler, began exploiting my people and, as a result, started the process of wiping out a large part of the Congolese population. He caused at least 10 to 15 million victims.
Since then and unfortunately until now, the DRC has been suffering genocide of its population for more than thirty years, even though this land is rich and sacred, endowed with a wide of variety ressources, and above all with materials essential to the sustainability of the global economy.
It was in this context that, on July 2, 1925, Patrice Emery Lumumba was born. He was a young and very charismatic leader who was assassinated on January 17, 1961. At that time, Algeria was a revolutionary nation that played an important role in Congolese history: it enabled the capture of the mastermind behind Lumumba's assassination and, above all, did not hand him over despite strong international pressure from all sides.
Thus, the recent match between the DRC and Algeria represented for me a symbol that was both historical and powerful.
Ultimately, Patrice Emery Lumumba was a great historical figure who embodied independence, dignity, African unity, and resistance in the face of colonialism and neocolonialism. Even today, despite his death, his message and ideology continue to inspire many Africans and people around the world.🌍
CONCLUSION
Ayant commencé en tant que non-favoris de toutes compétitions; que cela soit au niveau de la coupe du monde et de la coupe d'Afrique des nations. La RDC a sû se démarquer, briller et exceller comme jamais auparavant.
Premier pays d'Afrique subsaharienne (Afrique noire) à se qualifier pour une phase finale en coupe du monde en 1974.
Certes la République Démocratique du Congo a été éliminée par l'Algérie de la compétition mais nous repartons la tête haute. Du niveau technique et humain, pour moi nous sommes les champions d'Afrique! Sans la RDC cette coupe d'Afrique des nations aurait été semblables aux autres. Du biais des joueurs nationaux, des supporteurs, et de nous tous: le monde a pu un peu apprendre de notre histoire, personalités importante, souffrances et motivations.
Jamais auparavant notre grande nation (anciennement royaume Kongo) n'a autant excellé au niveau footballistique jusqu'à présent. Merci pour toutes ces surprises, déceptions et joies. Vous nous avez fait vivre des moments inoubliables encrés dans nos mémoires à jamais.
Rendez-vous en mars pour notre dernier barrage de qualification de la coupe du monde qui sera contre la Jamaïque.

Having started as underdogs in all competitions, whether in the World Cup or the Africa Cup of Nations, the DRC managed to stand out, shine, and excel like never before.
It was the first country in sub-Saharan Africa (Black Africa) to qualify for the World Cup finals in 1974.
Admittedly, the Democratic Republic of Congo was eliminated from the competition by Algeria, but we are leaving with our heads held high. From a technical and human perspective, for me we are the champions of Africa! Without the DRC, this Africa Cup of Nations would have been similar to the others. Through our national players, our supporters, and all of us, the world has been able to learn a little about our history, important figures, suffering, and motivations.
Never before has our great nation (formerly the Kingdom of Kongo) excelled so much in football. Thank you for all the surprises, disappointments, and joys. You have given us unforgettable moments that will remain etched in our memories forever.

Football, the world's favorite sport.
This must be the latest chapter of a long standing sports rivalry between the DR Congo and Botswana. I do enjoy World Cup/FIFA level competition, we don't have a big following in this sport in Canada as it is dominated by other sports like hockey and baseball. My family had fun years when my kids took up football/soccer. ⚽️
