Walking in the city of Stockholm 🇸🇪

I came back to Stockholm at the end of the year 2023 and then the Christmas vacations started. The time passed by in a really fun but dizzying way.

Before I knew it, two weeks had already passed in January, and the festival called "julgransplundring" was held on the 13th, which we put away the Christmas tree🎄 in Sweden. The "julgransplundring" is similar to the Japanese custom of "Kagamiwari," where everyone gathers around the Christmas tree🎄 and dances to celebrate the end of the Christmas season and eat the sweets on the tree. (Well, for Kagamiwari, we break the kagami-mochi and eat it to announce deities to go back to where they come from 🎍🎍💃)

After the Christmas trees are taken down, they are collected in each community and burned on "Valborgsmässoafton" to celebrate the arrival of spring. It's very environmental friendly, right? Kinda, I guess.

The custom of decorating the Christmas tree was a tradition of the North Germanic tribes before the arrival of Christianity in Scandinavia, and was originally a ritual for sacrifices.

After the julgransplundring, the Christmas season comes to an end and the coldest time of the year arrives in Sweden. It is especially cold until "Fettisdagen", and on this day it was -10 degrees Celsius in Stockholm 😄🇸🇪

作年末にストックホルムに戻ってきて、それからクリスマス休暇が始まって本当に楽しくはあるけど、目まぐるしい時間が流れていった。

気が付けばもう1月も2週間が経過し、スウェーデンではクリスマスツリー🎄を片付ける、「julgransplundring」と呼ばれているお祭りを13日に行われました。日本で言うところの「鏡割り」に似ている習慣で、この「julgransplundring」と言う行事は、クリスマスツリー🎄の周りを皆で囲い、そして皆でダンスをしてクリスマス時期の終わりを祝いクリスマスツリーに飾られているお菓子を皆で食べます。

飾り付けを外されたクリスマスツリーは各コミュニティーで集められ、「Valborgsmässoafton」の日にその集められたクリスマスツリー🎄を燃やして春の訪れを皆でお祝いします。

クリスマスツリー🎄を飾る習慣は北欧にキリスト教が伝来される前から北ゲルマン民族の伝統だったらしく、元々は生け贄を捧げる儀式だったそうです。

この「julgransplundring」が終わるとクリスマス時期も終了し、スウェーデンでは一年で一番寒い時期を迎えます。 「Fettisdagen」迄は特に寒く、この日もストックホルムではマイナス10度まで下がっていました😄🇸🇪

THE BOY AND THE HERON

The other day I saw on the news that "How Do You Live (The Boy and The Heron)," presented by Hayao Miyazaki, will be the first Japanese animated film to win a Golden Globe Award. Since I had not yet seen this film, Sambo and I decided to go see it together.

Without doing any research on the film beforehand, my prior knowledge was that Hayao Miyazaki had spent 10 years since his last film was released to make this film.

There seemed to be a lot of criticism, but after viewing the work, I was well aware of the beautiful scenery and the beauty of the hand-drawn animation work created by Studio Ghibli. In particular, the background paintings and their color schemes were breathtakingly beautiful and made the story stand out even more.

I was able to understand the work in my own way and thought it was a very good piece of work, although I am sure interpretations will vary from person to person. It is not one of those fast-paced films that we have seen in recent years, so it may seem boring to a generation accustomed to watching TikTok and shorts, but I enjoyed it because it is not a "movie" to be watched in that much of a hurry. Well, after all, it is a film for older people who are getting older, isn't it? LOL! I wonder if children watch it before they get bored 😒 since many kids today lose their attention super quickly then they press "advance" button to go to another movie clip. 🤯

On the way home, I had a GUINNESS at a pub for the first time in a long while, and in many ways it was a very satisfying day 🎵.

先日、ニュースで宮崎駿監督が発表した「君たちはどう生きるのか（The Boy and The Heron）」がゴールデングローブ賞を日本のアニメ作品では初めて受賞すると言うニュースを見ました。まだこの作品を観ていなかったので、サンボと一緒に作品を観に行くことにしました。

事前に作品の事を何も調べず、予備知識としては宮崎駿監督が前回作品を発表してから10年かけて作品を作り、この作品を発表したと言うことでした。

色々な批評はあったようだったのですが、作品を観賞後はその美しい景色とスタジオジブリが作り出した手書きのアニメ作品の美しさを再確認しまあいた。特に背景画やその配色は息を飲む美しさで、ストーリーをより際立たせていました。

私は私なりに作品を理解することができ、解釈は人により異なるとは思いますが、とてもよい作品に仕上がっていると思いました。 近年によく観る、テンポのよい作品ではないので、TikTokやShort作品を見慣れている世代にはつまらなく感じるかも知れませんが、そこまで急いで観るのが「映画」ではないので、私は楽しめました。まぁ、結局は年をとった高齢者向けの作品ということでしょうか？

帰りは久しぶりにGUINNESSをパブで飲んで色んな意味で大満足の一日でした🎵
