Nihonbashi and soba noodles

Before leaving Tokyo, I made an appointment to meet an old friend. We have known each other for more than 7 years. We used to go sightseeing together in Kyoto when we lived in Osaka, and he would tell me about good restaurants and chic places to eat. He is from France and has been living and working in Japan for more than 10 years year-round, so he told me it was time to start considering whether to apply for permanent residency in Japan. He told me that Japanese society is still not as supportive of foreign workers as it is in the West, and that if this were changed, there would be more people from abroad who would like to work in Japan.

On Japan's National Day, I thought that it would be great if Japan could support such people who love Japan so much and become a society that can grow together with them.

東京を出発する前に古い友人と会う約束をした。もう7年以上の知り合いで、大阪で住んでいた時、京都によく一緒に観光に行った友人で美味しい店や粋な店を教えてくれる。彼はフランス出身で、通年で10年以上日本で生活し働いているのでそろそろ永住権を申請するか検討始めると言っていました。聞くところによると、日本社会はまだまだ外国人労働者に対する補助制度が欧米レベルに比べると充実しておらず、ここを変えたらもっと海外から日本で働きたいと思う方々が増えるのにと言っていました。

こんなに日本を好いていてくれる方に対して日本もその様な方を支えて共に成長できる社会になればいいのになと、日本の建国記念日の日に思いました。
