Desde mi punto de vista estaba previsto perder en Barranquilla ante Colombia, creo que en realidad son pocos los equipo que lograrán quitarle puntos a la selección neogranadina en ese escenario. De hecho, hace poco hice un post con una predicción en la que daba como ganadora a Colombia con un marcador de 2 a 1 ya que pensé que tendríamos la capacidad de marcar al menos un gol y eso estuvo cerca de pasar, pero es allí donde digo que hay aspectos que duelen.

Hay que reconocer que el primer tiempo estuvo muy correcto, daba la sensación de que si llevábamos todo el partido por ese camino se podía rescatar al menos un empate, Colombia no tenía una salida clara de balón ya que Venezuela ejercía una presión media-alta bastante inteligente, parecía que la fórmula de Batista en ese sentido estaba dando resultado, pero claro, es normal que en determinados momentos esa presión fallara y hubieran escapadas sobre todo por parte de Luis Díaz quien por lejos fue el más desequilibrante.

El segundo tiempo inició de la peor manera que podía empezar, luego del pitido del árbitro y de unos pocos pases precisos, llegó el gol de Colombia en una de esas desatenciones que son imperdonables en este nivel. En estas eliminatorias no te puedes relajar ni un segundo, una selección como Venezuela que ha sufrido bastante con este tipo de cosas ya debería tenerlo claro, pero la mentalidad es algo que es muy difícil de cambiar. No digo con esto que todo el partido se jugó con esta actitud relajada, pero no te puedes permitir pestañear en ningún tramo del juego.

Luego de un gol así es difícil levantarse, todo lo planteado y conversado en el descanso del entretiempo se va abajo y toca reacomodarse a un escenario muy complicado ya que es inevitable que los ánimos no se vean afectados en ambas partes, ellos por un lado se llenan de confianza y nosotros por el otro nos llenamos de inseguridades. A partir de allí el segundo tiempo transcurrió como era de esperarse, ellos estuvieron más cerca del segundo gol que nosotros del empate, pero por fortuna ellos tampoco hicieron un buen juego.

Duele ver que haya jugadores que no terminan de materializar en la selección las buenas actuaciones que tienen semana a semana en sus equipos, actuaciones que nos llenan de ilusiones y que nos hacen pensar que este es nuestro momento, pero definitivamente el nivel de selecciones es otra cosa, allí debes tener una jerarquía implícita que te permita demostrar tu talento de la misma manera en cualquier escenario que te presentes, pero es evidente que al jugador venezolano le falta mucho de eso.

Duele ver a los mismos nombres una y otra vez, pero la realidad es que no hay otros, el recambio no termina de consolidarse y por eso es entendible que los técnicos sigan convocando a jugadores como Rondón, Rincón y Rosales que a pesar de que aún siguen jugando en equipos interesantes a nivel de selección ya no parecen ser suficientes. Es difícil hacer a un lado a estos jugadores que son históricos y que tanto le han dado a la selección en el pasado, pero creo que ya es momento de dejarlos atrás y jugárnosla con los demás, claro, para mí es muy fácil decirlo, pero la realidad es otra y es que no hay mucho de donde escoger.

Duele ver que no tengamos la capacidad de poder levantarnos ante un resultado adverso, pareciera que luego de que nos hacen un gol la mentalidad de cenicienta nos invade y nos limita de poder desarrollar el talento que tenemos. Eso era algo que en períodos anteriores como el de Richard Páez y Cesar Farías se había superado, quizá es que ellos conocen más la idiosincrasia de los jugadores venezolanos y supieron cómo manejarlos, pero por algún motivo hemos venido retrocediendo ese aspecto.

En fin, no crítico el resultado del partido o que hayamos perdido, como ya dije, estaba en los papeles que eso sucediera. Debemos ser sinceros, francos y reconocer lo que tenemos, las capacidades como equipo y de los jugadores individualmente no nos dan para estar en el top 5 de Sudamérica, pero a partir de allí no podemos permitirnos ceder terreno tanto de locales como de visitantes ante equipos como Paraguay, Perú, Bolivia y quizá Chile, esos serían actualmente nuestros verdaderos rivales; sin embargo, creo que podemos hacer cosas interesantes contra países como Ecuador, Uruguay y la misma Colombia cuando juguemos de locales contra ellos.
