En la disputa de la decimoquinta jornada de La Liga de España, el Real Madrid recibió la visita del Celta de Vigo, club que no había ganado en el Bernabéu desde hace 19 años lo cual les hizo obtener hasta 11 derrotas y esa estadística fue lo que hizo pensar a los aficionados madridistas que está era una buena oportunidad para sumar nuevamente tres puntos y así seguir metiendo presión al FC Barcelona que en jornadas anteriores se posicionó como líder en La Liga; lamentablemente para los aficionados merengues, el Real Madrid en el regreso a su casa, mostraría lo que considero su peor versión en la temporada lo cual le propinó una nueva e inesperada derrota alejándolo un poco más de la primera posición.

Desde finales de octubre en la disputa de la décima jornada, cuando el Real Madrid obtuvo la polémica victoria sobre su clásico rival y se mantuvo en el primer puesto con una ventaja de 5 puntos, muchos pensaron (entre ellos jugadores) que por las problemáticas que presentaba el Barça, el haber ganando al Villarreal (tercer lugar de la competición) y lo alejado del Atlético de Madrid, el club merengue se veía en una posición más que favorable para mantenerse y hasta aumentar la ventaja que les haría recuperar el título de campeón de La Liga; el problema estuvo que el Real Madrid a pesar de las victorias de El Clásico, la ventaja de puntos, contar con el mejor portero del mundo y el delantero con mejor desempeño en la actualidad, no sería suficiente para mantener esa privilegiada posición la cual fue perdiendo en los últimos seis juegos diputados y ahora ve como no solamente perdió el primer puesto, sino posiblemente puede hasta caer al tercero cuando el Villarreal, si logra ganar, empareje los encuentros disputados en las próximas semanas.

El transcurso de los encuentros y les ha hecho obtener el pleno de 18 puntos en los 6 últimos encuentros jugados.

Lo sucedido contra el Celta en la decimoquinta jornada fue una imagen lamentable; actualmente el Real Madrid presenta un gran número de bajas en su defensa, una extensa lista lo cual le hizo improvisar a Xabi Alonso la posición de central por izquierda y el lateral derecho; en esos puestos jugó un defensor central reconvertido para esa ocasión en lateral derecho y un lateral izquierdo que pasó a ser defensor central zurdo, personalmente no debería críticar a Alonso quien conoce mejor a sus jugadores, pero los problemas defensivos del Real Madrid en el encuentro de ayer, justamente se originaron en el lateral derecho defendido por Ascencio y la zona izquierda de la defensa ocupada por Carreras y Fran García; uno fue intrascendente al momento de defender y atacar lo cual proveyó al Celta el espacio necesario para siempre atacar y es donde se originó el primer gol de los visitantes; los otros dos, mostraron altos niveles de frustración, falta de concentración y compromiso y terminaron siendo expulsados de manera muy tonta, en esa zona o mejor dicho el espacio que dejaron ambos jugadores se originó el segundo y definitivo gol del encuentro.
