Dieciséis selecciones disputarán en Inglaterra la Eurocopa Femenina 2022

Por fin dio comienzo a la Eurocopa Femenina que se disputará en suelo inglés; recordemos que este torneo debió llevarse a cabo el pasado año, pero la aparición de la pandemia hizo que hubiera un gran cambio de planes y por eso se corrió para este año y por fin podemos ver cómo dieciséis selecciones del viejo continente deberán luchar en cuatro difíciles grupos para obtener la oportunidad de ser las nuevas campeonas de Europa.

La Eurocopa Femenina es un torneo corto que comenzó el día de ayer y termina el 31 de este mes en curso; el tornero presenta cuatro grupos conformados por cuatro equipos en los cuales puedo decir que tenemos lo mejor de lo mejor en el fútbol femenino europeo y eso porque muchas de las selecciones están compuestas por jugadoras que pertenecen a importantes ligas como son la inglesa, francesa, alemana, italiana y española; muchas de estas jugadoras son reconocidas en el mundo del fútbol más que nada a la fama que se ha conseguido a obtener un mayor seguimiento por la disputa de la UEFA Champions League Femenina aunque siendo sincero, ojalá que en esta próxima temporada tenga un mayor apoyo en la transmisión de todos sus encuentros; volviendo a lo que es este torneo, creo que su comienzo (junto a la Copa América Femenina) llegó en el mejor momento de la temporada en dónde hace falta poder ver fútbol de selecciones y más cuando está la disputa de un torneo importante y como he dicho, cada grupo tienen lo mejor de lo mejor, cada grupo presenta a selecciones favoritas que pueden proclamarse cómo las campeonas de la Eurocopa; por ejemplo en el grupo A encontramos a selecciones como Inglaterra (local) y Noruega; en el grupo B conocido como el "Grupo de la Muerte" está Dinamarca, Alemania (máxima ganadora del torneo) y España; en el grupo C está la última campeona, Países Bajos junto a Suecia y Suiza y en grupo D Francia, Islandia e Italia; con todos estos difíciles grupos pienso que habrá una gran competitividad porque no tengo duda que calidad hay y por eso pienso que habrá emocionantes encuentros.

En la inauguración se enfrentó la selección de Inglaterra vs. Austria; las locales tienen un gran equipo en dónde la mayoría de sus jugadoras militan en el fútbol inglés, en importantes clubes como el Arsenal y Manchester City por nombrar a algunos y de igual manera las jugadoras australianas juegan tanto en Alemania como en Inglaterra, a pesar de ese factor, la selección anfitriona es una de las grandes favoritas y eso porque tiene un gran funcionamiento, ya que antes la disputa de este primer juego de la Eurocopa tienen una racha de catorce victorias consecutivas. La selección inglesa dirigida por la neerlandesa Glotzbach-Wiegman, usa un esquema de 4-2-3-1, cada vez más me gusta este esquema porque pienso que es perfecto, muy balanceado y que sirve para crear un bloque defensivo y ofensivo; justamente eso hizo está selección que con el uso de sus extremos, Mead por izquierda y Hemp por derecha hizo estragos en la defensa austriaca, ambas jugadoras no se cansaron de mandar centros a la única referente de ataque, White que es la única centro delantera del equipo inglés; lamentablemente a pesar del dominio y muy buenas jugadas solamente un gol hizo falta para que Inglaterra comenzara el torneo con tres importantes puntos; por parte de la selección de Austria pienso que con un poco más de suerte y tal vez más tiempo hubieran conseguido el ansiado gol del empate y es que los numerosos fallos en la definición que tuvo Inglaterra siempre dejó la puerta abierta para que sus rivales obtuvieran un mejor resultado.

Disfrute mucho de este primer encuentro y tengo muchas expectativas en este torneo; sé que hay un grupo de personas que tiene una definición equivoca sobre el fútbol femenino y es que si tomo por ejemplo el encuentro inaugural puedo decir que el fútbol femenino también tiene técnica, clase, competitividad y mucha pasión, todas corren, todas quieren jugar y siempre dar el 100% en cada jugada y eso es admirable; también debo hacer referencia a las personas que asistieron al juego, un público sano, con ganas de disfrutar de un partido de fútbol, de apoyar a sus equipos y es que es fabuloso ver a padres con sus hijas e hijos ingresar a nada más y nada menos que al Old Trafford, más de 60 mil personas asistieron a este primer juego de la Eurocopa 2022 rompiendo un récord en asistencia y eso es maravilloso, es un claro ejemplo del alcance que tiene el fútbol femenino, que tal como pasa con las grandes estrellas masculinas en este deporte, mujeres que son estrellas en sus clubes crean una gran admiración y una gran base de fans y demuestra que el público inglés se está convirtiendo en gran anfitrión de eventos deportivos y que con los excelentes estadios que rodean a toda Inglaterra se tiene una gran posibilidad que tanto el público asistente como las jugadoras de todas las selecciones puedan ser parte de históricos lugares en donde se han escrito grandes hazañas en el fútbol y que en los pies de cada una de ellas se pueden crear nuevos momentos que serán inolvidables para muchos. Aparte de todo esto, existe un factor importante para disfrutar de esta competencia de selecciones europeas y es que el canal deportivo, ESPN, transmitirá todos los encuentros de la Eurocopa y espero que este sea el principio de un proceso para crear seguidores tanto femenino como masculino en este lado del mundo y podamos tener una opción más de disfrutar del fútbol. Diariamente, se transmiten hasta dos juegos y como dije, este es un torneo corto en dónde inmediatamente, al finalizar la fase de grupos, comienza la disputa de los cuartos de final, semifinal y la gran final que se jugará en el mítico estadio de Wembley.
