La espera ha terminado; después de 4 años y varios meses, el Mundial de Fútbol en Qatar ha comenzado; un mes en dónde 32 selecciones competirán para que tan solo una sea considerada como la mejor del mundo.

Por fin comenzó lo que cada aficionado del fútbol espera cada cuatro años y eso es la disputa de la Copa del Mundo, el torneo más importante del fútbol; a pesar de toda la problemática que ha causado la sede elegida por FIFA, es inevitable que cada persona que ama este deporte no sienta felicidad de que por fin se dio comienzo a esta gran competición; personalmente creo que este será un mundial diferente desde el punto de vista del aficionado que tiene la dicha de estar en los estadios cómo el que está sentado frente a la TV disfrutando los juegos y eso es porque al estar en un lugar muy restrictivo, puede existir preocupación por si algún comportamiento se considere inadecuado y pueda causar algo que sea considerado como fuera de orden y que estás personas tengan graves problemas; personalmente esa fue en parte mi sensación en diferentes momentos y creo que sin importar cuál juego se esté llevando a cabo, este o no la selección local jugando, mi pensamiento será el mismo; ahora enfocándonos en lo importante, el día de hoy se abre el telón de esta gran fiesta justamente en el juego donde la selección local, Qatar, juegue contra una de las mejores selecciones de Suramérica, Ecuador; un partido sumamente importante porque a pesar de ser el juego inaugural, hay que recordar que en este grupo, las otras dos selecciones que la conforman son Países Bajos y Senegal, claras favoritas para calificar a segunda fase.

Justamente con el hecho de que Ecuador se enfrente a la selección más débil del grupo sin importar de que sea la local, seguramente tenía la obligación de obtener la victoria porque desde esa posición puede esperar a lo que suceda en el encuentro entre Países Bajos y Senegal para así planear como afrontar las últimas dos jornadas del grupo A; sé que la selección de Qatar tenía las mismas expectativas que su primer rival aunque también está la presión de ganar o por lo menos no perder al frente de su público para después ver cuál opción tienen para seguir en competencia; ambos equipos querían demostrar sus armas y en esta oportunidad, el entrenador de Ecuador, Gustavo Alfaro, fue mejor que su similar de Qatar, me refiero al DT Español Sanchez Bas. "La Tri" como se le conoce a la selección ecuatoriana, usó el esquema 4-4-2, un equipo muy organizado, compacto, fuerte y concentrado, esto último fue sumamente importante porque cada quien sabía qué trabajo debería hacer y eso hizo que los primeros 45 minutos fueran perfectos; contar con Ibarra y Estupiñán por la zona izquierda y con Plata y Preciado por derecha fue fundamental porque ayudaron a la ofensiva y defensa, son jugadores potentes y con un alto nivel físico, entre ellos puedo nombrar a Caicedo y Méndez que en ese doble cinco en el medio campo le dieron balance y tranquilidad a sus compañeros.
