Comenzó las eliminaciones por la cuarta ronda de la FA CUP y justamente abrieron la tanda de juegos, El Arsenal, actual líder de la Primer League y Manchester City, equipo que está en el segundo lugar a cinco puntos del líder; este encuentro sería de suma importancia no solo por seguir con vida en esta competición del fútbol inglés, sino porque es la primera vez en esta temporada que estos equipos se enfrentan y por esa lucha que tiene en el torneo local, existía una gran expectativa por la clase de juego que estos equipos pueden brindar.

El equipo dirigido por Guardiola presento una serie de rotaciones en varias posiciones, en especial tanto en la portería como en defensa, pero lo más importante fue el esquema usado por el DT catalán del City el cual fue 3-2-4-1, en dónde el uso de tres defensores fue una decisión acertada pensando en tapar los extremos del Arsenal el cual son el eje de su ofensiva; en el medio campo, se jugó prácticamente con Rodri delante de los tres defensores, contando siempre con la ayuda del joven Lewis quien cumplió la doble función de estar en el lateral derecho cuando el city defendía y ser parte del doble 5 cuando el equipo tenía el balón; estos dos jugadores tenía el apoyo de Gündogan el cual debería ser el director de la orquesta, pero la realidad es que tanto él como De Bruyne y Mahrez no tuvieron el mejor juego en los primeros 45 minutos, solo Grealish y por supuesto la presencia de Haaland fue lo que más peligro causó a la defensa Gunner.

Por parte del Arsenal puedo decir que está era una oportunidad para varios jugadores de demostrar que están para ayudar al equipo en el principal objetivo lo cual es la obtención de la Premier League; Arteta dio descanso a varios jugadores como Martinelli, Ødegaard, White, Ramsdale, Zinchenko y Saliba; todos ellos en la banca esperando oportunidad para jugar; ahora los jugadores que fueron parte del 4-3-3, debo decir que hicieron un gran trabajo en la mayor parte del tiempo; en especial esa línea de tres centrocampistas que frenaron al ManCity y es que al no estar Ødegaard en el equipo titular, el equipo jugó de otra manera, en especial Xhaka, Partey y Fábio Vieira que jugaron en línea, muy concentrados cubriendo toda la zona e impidiendo que De Bruyne y Gündogan influyan en el juego; lamentablemente su buen juego no fue apoyado por los tres delanteros en dónde Trossard fue el más importante porque aprovechó las ventajas del City al jugar con un stopper izquierdo a Stone y lo tardío de la marca de Lewis, de sus pies se generó las tres claras ocasiones de gol las cuales todas fueron despejadas por Ortega, portero del ManCity.

Por el desgaste físico del primer tiempo solo quedaba esperar a quien cometiera un fallo para poder capitalizar una oportunidad y obtener la ventaja; es por eso ambos equipos realizaron una serie de cambios los cuales de una manera u otra influyeron en el juego; los que recalaron mejor fue el que hizo Guardiola, que nuevamente demuestra que todo su equipo es el más completo del fútbol inglés; el hacer entrar a Julián Álvarez, Walker, Laporte y Bernardo Silva, le dio oportunidad de romper el libreto del partido y mostrar algo diferente que hiciera adelantarse en el marcador; justamente un chute fuera del área por parte de Julián Álvarez que impacto en la base del paral derecho de la portería defendida por Turner, dio la oportunidad a Grealish de tomar el rebote y asistir a Aké quien estaba completamente solo y definió de una manera tranquila para así anotar el único gol del encuentro; una jugada en la cual el fallo provino por parte de Saka el cual para cerrar un mal juego, no ayudó en la defensa a su equipo; después de ese gol el City pudo frenar el ímpetu del Arsenal y de esa manera consigue una importante victoria la cual puede ayudar a este equipo a levantar la autoestima y seguir compitiendo por el liderato de la Premier League, en cambio, el Arsenal debe tomar está derrota como una oportunidad, aprender de que pueden hacer un mejor juego en dónde deben aprovechar, concertar toda oportunidad que aparezca y así seguramente puedan estar por más tiempo como líder y obtener un importante título.
