Work that is not work (for me)

(Edited)
Have you ever worked (at your job) on the weekend? Explain what you like or do not like about it and why. Remember, your own photos are required.

K-20200223_744.jpg

Yes, I often use my Saturdays and Sundays for my work, as some people say that I am a photographer.

I work for a magazine, covering sporting events most of the time, and many of them take place on weekends. It can be any kind of events, galas, meetings, competitions, practices... but you know what? in general I don't consider my job a job. I only see it that way when I have to be accompanied by someone who talks a lot and nonsense, or someone who complains (I can't stand people who constantly complain). One of the best thing about my job is that to do it I need to move. And so I get rid of these kinds of people.

But as I was saying, my job is a lot of fun, even though it's tiring too.

I think the biggest challenge of this is carrying all the equipment, which is usually not just a camera. Sometimes I have to carry several lenses, a monopod, and there is a lens, the NIKON AF NIKKOR 300MM F/2.8, for example, that is terrible because is very heavy, in addition to the other things. I'm not complaining, I'm just commenting so you can see how difficult the job is. Many times I end up with very severe spinal pains.

K-20200223_742.jpg

This one in the photo above is not like the one I was telling you about, but it is also heavy and must be carried, of course.

By the way, the photos were taken by a colleague who also does not consider this work as work. His name is Calixto N. Llanes and here I leave a link, so you can admire his work, which is excellent.

The positive thing about this, about working in a job that you don't see as work, is that you enjoy everything. But of this day that Calixto took the photos I have a nice memory and it is this moment that I spent with these people, whom I met precisely in this triathlon event.

I was already really tired here, from working in the sun and walking and standing for hours on end.

_ALC4885-2.jpg

Kyle has already come two more times to Cuba and each time I have taken his pictures.

There is time to share some time and catch up on our lives, although my English is not very good (as I said), we have always been able to talk all night and understand each other perfectly.

WhatsApp Image 2020-03-02 at 09.18.33.jpeg

Of this particular event, I really enjoy taking the pictures at the Hemingway Marina. We always arrive before sunrise and that place is very beautiful, and I also love to look at the boats.

We have to follow the athletes along their entire route, which is quite long, to be able to capture everything, the swim, the bike and then the run. The latter takes place in a part of the Malecon before finishing at the National Hotel.

I like to take the photos of the Malecón because they are very interesting, with the waves splashing there on the wall sometimes. And then, arriving at the Hotel gardens and resting a bit before downloading the photos and sending them to the magazine... having a snack, chatting with friends. And that's how it all ends, very happily.

I have selected from my archive these photos so you can see what my eyes see.

What beautiful pictures that show what your eyes see, I loved that part.

It reminded me of when I used to work on weekends making designs, I didn't consider it work but an enjoyment, but well it was work.... enjoying it hahaha I did it with pleasure, even if they were commissions for other people.

Beautiful publication @nanixxx ❤️

It's a good job to do design work on weekends because you can stay at home, and manage your time as you please.

Thank you, @avdesing 🤓

So you also have a job not job, like me! We are lucky ones, aren't we?

Oh, Nikon...

I guess you can be as tired as the athletes. Do you have to run, swim and ride the bike as them? {just a joke 😁}

Es Rosita que te acompaña?

😂 No, Rosita es más grande. Es de esas mochilas para ir de acampada.

We are very lucky girls, yes. 😅

Well... hahaha... each of us with our own tiredness.

Your photos look amazing, my friend. I think that transmitting through photography is something that only a few can achieve. Yours are great. Your work must have the opportunity to capture so many beautiful things. And if there are no people around to complain, so much the better 😄

I suffer the most from people who talk a lot and complain on the way to work, but once I get there, I free myself.
And the truth is that I get so connected to what I do, that I lose track of time and sometimes even my own tiredness.
There are moments when we have to wait for things to happen in specific places, standing up, all together. This is a bit bad for me. But well... it's an occupational hazard. I try to abstract myself a bit... hahahaha.... Thanks for appreciating my work.

The @naixxx friend in her "habitat"... ha ha ha :))... It's hard to carry those more than 1.5 Kgs hanging around your neck, eh?... But it's something you enjoy when you do what you love! Nice post!... Thanks for sharing!

Trabajo que no es trabajo, me suena a paraíso. Antes ese tipo de cosas no estaba en mi diccionario, pero con la fotografía es más que evidente que puede ser real, y ahí estas tú, con esas maravillosas fotos 🙌 Gracias

Good pictures dear @nanixxx I am absolutely agree. When you enjoy what you do, like you do, a job is not a job, like you say. But sometimes must be hard, must be demanding. Anyway, congrats, you are doing something you like. 😉

Having a job that you love so much that you consider it not work is a blessing. I know this because my husband is a filmmaker and loves what he does. For him working is a pleasure.
I, on the other hand, have never gotten a job that I am so passionate about that I don't consider it a job. Maybe if creating content and Hive could be considered a job, I could say I do it for pleasure, hehe ;)

Yes, it does. Creating content takes time and yes, for many it is also a fun job.
This is what I chose to do (photography). I studied for many years and became a journalist. I wrote about boring and sometimes unbearable things for a long time, things that I couldn't even see because they didn't allow me to travel to those places where they happened. Until one day I sat down, reflected and told myself that life is too short to work on something that didn't give me pleasure. So I did what I had to do to be where I am now, doing what I love.

Everything in life starts from an idea, from having the right mentality and projecting oneself accordingly. So I wish that one day you will be able to achieve that job that gives you full satisfaction.

Gracias por compartir un rato aquí conmigo ;)

Oh Nani. I understand You. I can not imagine stay a whole day in Heminguay Marine and think about like i was working, Even if i did it 🤪
Now speaking seriusly: i know what You are talking about. I often work on saturdays and monday. I have to finish some personal proyect and need yo finish as soon as posible. So i Will stay at work until i write the last point on the paper work.
As Gargamel said to Pitufos: i Will finish My tesis Even when it be the last thing i do in My life😏

Hey, it's not all day there, I wish it were. Because I would leave work and go drink beer hahahaha... and look at the boats and the sea. 😅 Just I remain there only a few hours until they finish swimming and they run out of the showers to pick up the bike and go all the way to the malecon.
Well, finish that, not so that your life will go in that, but so that there will be a new beginning. 😂

There is no better pleasure than doing what we love! When work is enjoyable it is distraction. It is very good to link what is useful with what is pleasant. Very nice pictures my friend.

When you enjoy what you do, it's not work ❤️

I always liked photography although I could never do it for lack of resources haha but in fact it is a very nice job, exhausting as any, but you enjoy it very much, in my opinion 😊

Buhito wants a photo session, please hehe 😂

Buhito, I hear this all the time, about resources. Photography is certainly expensive, but it's not the equipment that's most important, it's what's behind it a few millimetres away.

Quizás Buhito la tenga un día, la sesión de fotos. 😉📸

Thanks for showing what your eyes see. I love sport, I enjoy almost any sport and triathlon is 100% enjoyable. How wonderful despite the pain and effort that your work is not a sacrifice for you. Everything that is done with passion is good.

Everything that is done with passion pays off in the end. And of course nothing is perfect, there are always drawbacks, but the important thing is where the balance tips in the end.

Work that is not work, I understand you perfectly. I find myself immersed most of the time in that feeling, to the point that when a client commissions the design I want to do, I even feel lazy to charge them. I feel as if they have done me a favor. hahahahahahahaha
PS: The only thing that is work for me is cooking.🤣

Thank you very much, it's good to enjoy the work because then it looks like fun and not work. Not everyone in the world can have this. I feel really lucky. Although as I said, I don't think it's just about fortune. I focused a lot on it until I did it.
