Desde los inicios del béisbol en el siglo XIX, los receptores han usado sus dedos para indicar el tipo de lanzamiento que debe lanzar un pitcher y la ubicación de la pelota. En el siglo XXI, con el auge de los sistemas de video en los parques, ha aumentado el robo de señas y han surgido preocupaciones sobre cómo los clubes intentarán interceptar estos sistema de comunicación entre jugadores y técnicos. Es muy probable que muchos seguidores de este deporte como lo soy yo, lleguemos a pensar que esto le quitará emoción al juego ya que es una idea a primera vista difícil de digerir, pero, el mismo caso sucedió cuando se implementó la repetición instantánea, debido a las grandes equivocaciones que los árbitros estaban cometiendo, siendo el juego perfecto de Armando Galarraga el más afectado por tales errores, el sistema de las repeticiones trajo consigo algunos retrasos en los juegos ya que, se perdía mucho entre revisiones, así que se les puso un tiempo estipulado a los jugadores para que saltaran al terreno de juego y así compensar un poco esos retrasos.

Because of this huge controversy this communication system called Pichtcom was implemented, basically, that eliminates any need for a signaling system for the catcher. You literally push a button and it sends the signal to the pitcher. From what I've seen so far, this gives a pretty good dynamic to the games. I personally think this will help speed up the pace of the game resulting in opponents having less or even no time to predict the opposing side's pitching.
