Time travel bus: November 28 2022
How cool was this express bus we caught from Wellington Airport to the central business district. It felt like a weird time travel tunnel so low and narrow. I was not was not sure the bus would even fit.
Real time travel, I surpose not but it did save a lot of time from not having to drive up and over the hill.
Not my biggest activity count today as we were up early to travel between Auckland and Wellington on New Zealand s north Island.
Auckland peak hour traffic can get hectic so we got an early bus, we must have beat the worst of it as we were at the airport with plenty of time to spare.
The flight between Auckland and Wellington was short, a long distance travelled 480kms but a shorter time than getting to and from the airports.
Then it was the visual effects bus ride that almost drop us right at our accommodation for the next few days.
Everything went smoothly so we were able to an short afternoon stroll around town and an evening 5km jog.

Oh, I know that tunnel well! The small cubby holes are what you stand in when a bus enters the tunnel. Of course, pedestrians are not permitted to enter the tunnel unless on official business. I guess sometimes we forget!
It was amazing, I have never seen anything so tight. Was it built for the bus or repurposed.
This tunnel was purpose-built back in the day when Wellington had small trams. When the regional council contracted out bus services a few years ago, some of the tendered buses could not fit. Our buses are slightly narrower than say Auckland City Transport ones, simply because our streets and tunnels are less wide than most places in NZ.
