Road to Graz Hive Creator Days [Eng][Esp] |My Actifit Report Card: April 29 2025

Here we are on the road again.I started writing this at 9 am and I feel an exaggerated exhaustion, as if it were already six o'clock in the evening on an overworked day. So many things have come together and as much as I wanted to plan this ahead of time, I couldn't.

Even less with the unexpected blackout we suffered yesterday in Spain, what an uncomfortable and distressing situation. Portugal, Spain and the South of France were affected by sudden and prolonged power outages that made us all go on alert, during the afternoon I was almost sure that it would be impossible to travel, everything was very uncertain, but here I am, about to board the plane. Thank goodness, I need this to reconnect.

From 12:30 we were without electricity, and it came back gradually and with many failures in the course of the afternoon/evening. The mobile lines were also affected, there was little way to find out about things. I don't have a radio at home, it used to be so elementary to have one, but it is no longer something you look to buy.

Everyone thought of doing the same thing, running to the supermarket and making sure to buy, as all the stores and schools were closed for safety and people were "free" on the street. The first thing that ran out was drinking water, some people said they had no water in their taps. I was in the middle of the city center at the time, at a medical appointment, and I could see the frantic pace of the passersby, it was easy to feel the tension that flooded everything. It was chaos, but I got home soon, even though the entire rail system was at a standstill, the buses were running well and had been reinforced.

[Esp]

However, this situation affected my plans for the day, and the uncertainty did not help. Shortly before the electricity service was restored I went to bed, although I couldn't sleep, I had to wake up at 2am anyway to get ready and leave early for the bus station, as it was the only way to get there on time for my flight. The trains would not be running until further notice and that meant that convenience and time saving would not be an option this time.

The Uber that took me to the bus station commented to me how surprised he was at how quiet it was in the early morning, after the crazy day he had had.

The bus station was not quiet at all. The police were more present than usual and there were a lot of people waiting for buses and a lot of bus traffic, much more than usual. I wasn't going to be the only one who would have to adapt my plans to the unexpected situation, the strange seat assignment and numbering, plus, it was clear, lots of last minute tickets. But we left on time and the long ride was uneventful.

[Esp]

When I arrived at Sants station in Barcelona there was indeed chaos, I entered just out of curiosity to find out how the scene was tied and I was not surprised to see the agglomeration of passengers, mostly stranded, waiting for a solution to the lack of train service. Everything indicated out of service and yet there were many people who did not seem to understand what was happening. It only took me 5 minutes to get out of there and walk towards Plaza España, where the Aerobus stop is located, which goes directly to the airport in only half an hour.

I was surprised to see how often these buses were leaving, normally one waits every hour or half an hour, but I didn't wait at all, when I arrived I was going to take one and when I stopped in front of the bus stop the other one arrived. Less than 5 minutes it was there and it left full. We are all on contingency.

I arrived at a perfect time, 7:30am. Two hours before my flight which would allow me to check in early and get through the check in at Prat Airport which is usually very efficient. The airport didn't seem to me to have any different activity, just people commenting on the power failure situation, but just as crowded as always and with a couple of cancelled flights to USA only. As always with his huge can of beer Estrella Galicia greeting every traveler that passes by.

Although I do not deny that I was a little scared to see that, just at the time of boarding, when there was the line, some lights inside the airport went out, it was nothing exaggerated and few people noticed it, but I found it worrying. It passed quickly when we took off on time and I began to see the landscape change from the coasts to the beautiful mountains, still a little snowy. Impossible not to stay admiring them, the pilot himself suggested that we do so and I took advantage of the fact that I was alone in my row of seats to be at ease at the window.

What was not so pleasant were the screams of a couple of little ones who made life impossible for the dad they were traveling with, who also spent the whole trip saying things out loud and chasing them around the plane. So I'm still accumulating sleep.

[Esp]

How beautiful the Austrian lands look from the air, Vienna looks beautiful, it's a pity I couldn't take the opportunity to see it this time, but it left me with more desire than I had.

I had a three hour layover in Vienna, it didn't take long because I quickly found where to entertain myself. I didn't know there was a restaurant of the chef Jamie Oliver here, so I had to try it and discover what he offers, I can assure you that it is worth it for a stopover at lunchtime and to have your first beer.

Although if not, you can also sneak into the children's area and play a game of Nintendo xD.

[Esp]

The flight from Vienna to Graz is short, not even 40 minutes, so I will arrive soon, although to be honest I wouldn't mind having some more time to take a good nap on this flight where it seems there are no children.

The best thing about arriving so early to our destination is that I will enjoy very good company, here I will be with @elmirabear from the beginning and I am very happy to meet her again in her land, I am sure that this meetup will be very enriching.

The other thing about being on time is getting down to business and being able to get some work done before the #WorldMappin presentation so even though it looks like the dream is winning, I think it's going to have to keep waiting for its moment at the end of the day.

Overall I've done a lot of miles but few steps, no excuse, there's just something about airports that wears you out much more than going for a run. Inexplicable.

While I let myself be pampered a little by my wonderful hostess, I say goodbye with this wonderful dinner, some Kaspressknödel (Fried Cheese Dumplings) to make me feel right at home.
Bon appetit and let’s @buzzparty!

[Esp]

¡Buen provecho!

Good morning @ninaeatshere, I can imagine the stress you went through yesterday, including that of the kids on the plane. From the assurance that you will have time to rest, to do that worldmappin presentation excellently, to share very good times with friends, to teach and learn, to eat and drink ..... I send you a big hug.

Have a good trip!

No electricity for a few hours can cause chaos. Imagine having no electricity for days on end?
You got to your destination regardless so well done and enjoy the meetup. 😊👍
