Alexander Isak Is A Red
The long saga that took the headlines of the transfer window has ended after weeks of back and forth between Liverpool, Newcastle United and Alexander Isak. It is no longer news that Isak has completed his transfer to Liverpool and his medicals at the club. This move happened before the International break over two weeks ago. Honestly, I would say I doubted this transfer would happen because of the way Newcastle United were holding on to Alexander Isak throughout the summer window.
The Megpies were not ready to let Isak leave and I understand that from the club. It is not easy letting your starting player leave when the upcoming season will be competitive with the number of games that will be scheduled, but at the same time when a player doesn't want to be in a club anymore and the owners are trying to force that player to stay it could end up badly for the club in the long run of that season. Newcastle United tried everything to get Isak to stay but the Swedish striker was reluctant to accept Newcastle's proposal as he wanted to move only to Liverpool.
Newcastle offered a higher salary in a new deal for Isak and even some of the top members of the club had a private meeting with Alexander Isak, but the decision made by the Swedish striker to leave the club didn't change. Isak even decided not to show up for training with the squad to make his intentions known to the club that he is clear of staying at the club. There were talks of finding a common ground for Isak to reintegrate him back to the squad, but none of those plans worked, which made Newcastle United come to the conclusion to finally listen to Liverpool's bid for Isak.
Newcastle were on the hunt for a striker during the window and remembered mentioning how they had interest in signing Hugo Ekitike, but lost out on their bid because they were keen on not letting Isak leave during that time. Hugo Ekitike was not Liverpool's main target as Isak was the first choice, but seeing the unwilling attitude from Newcastle to listen to negotiation, the Reds decided to go for Ekitike, which went smoothly for Liverpool. Ekitike could have been a Newcastle United player if Isak had been allowed to leave last month.
Liverpool purchased Alexander Isak for a British record of 125 million euros this summer. It is still wild how the club made all this spending during the summer as the quality is stacked. Hugo Ekitike will be having a competition with Isak for the starting lineup as time goes on this season. Isak didn't make the squad for the match against Burnley last weekend, but hopefully, he could play some minutes in Liverpool's upcoming match in the Champions League.
Alexander Isak had a good run in Newcastle United and many Liverpool fans hope he brings that energy into the team in the long run at the club. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
