Another Disappointing Result For Liverpool

When Jürgen Klopp left Liverpool to be replaced by Arne Slot, I was a little sceptical whether he was the right manager for the job. Still, he went on to win the Premier League title and got Liverpool to the round of 16 of the Uefa Champions League. It was a good start for Arne Slot to win the Premier League in his first season at Liverpool so many Liverpool fans trusted the process of the manager. Now, having the kind of summer market Liverpool had last year, everyone is expecting the Reds to be on top form this season.

The season started fine for Liverpool but along the line, it began to change as the quality of the players they were producing on the pitch was not good enough. The excuse that was moving then was that it is a process, and the team will transition soon, as some of the new players are still finding their way into the team. It went on as the weeks passed by, and it hit me then that something was not working with Arne Slot and the team. There were rumours about a falling out in the locker room, and it came to light when Mohammed Salah gave his comment to the press about not being involved in matches.

The issue has already been resolved as Salah has been integrated back into the team and featured in Liverpool's match last weekend away from home against Bournemouth. Now, last dive into that match that Liverpool lost, which I am still trying to understand what went wrong for the Reds. Liverpool started poorly as they conceded two goals before coming back to level the match. The final minutes of the match were being played, and I expected the Reds to complete their comeback, but it ended the opposite way as Bournemouth scored a late goal to seal their victory at home.

Liverpool's defence is not good enough, and I have been saying this since last year, and even expected the Reds to bring in Marc Guehi in the January transfer window. It didn't happen as Marc Guehi preferred to join Manchester City instead and gave a solid performance in his first game against Wolverhampton last weekend. There have not been any rumours surrounding Liverpool with any defender this January, and by next week, the window will be over. Giovanni is obviously out till next season, so I don't understand why the club has not gotten anyone, even if it is on a loan deal.

In truth, I am questioning Arne Slot's capability at the club because with all the money spent last season, he has all he needs to deliver a good performance this season. Xabi Alonso is already a free manager and I won't mind if the board goes at the end of the season if Arne Slot doesn't have a positive result. If Liverpool goes trophyless this season then there is no point in Slot continuing his job at Liverpool next season. So that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
