Darwin Nunez Expected Departure: Who Will Be Liverpool's Main Striker Next Season?
Good day, everyone, and welcome to another weekend, but football is messing up as the season is over, as we all know. Football activities are far from over as clubs are still watching, signing and making moves on players of interest. In one of my posts earlier this week, I mentioned that Darwin Nunez will stay at Liverpool next season, which will prompt Liverpool to have less interest in signing Victor Osimhen with the little rumours going around. It has been brought to my notice that that news is false as Fabrizio Romano reported that Darwin Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool this summer.
This is one of the reasons I try to wait for an update from Fabrizio Romano before giving my personal thoughts on any transfer update. It was already been the case before the end of the season that how the relationship between Arne Slot and Darwin Nunez was not on a good page as the Liverpool manager even came up publicly to express his dissatisfaction with Darwin Nunez's performance on the pitch as he expected more from the Uruguayan international on the pitch.
Darwin Nunez's performance didn't please Arne Slot as we saw he used the Uruguayan striker rarely last season. It has not been worth what a fan expected from Darwin Nunez when he first signed for Liverpool from Benfica, and honestly, I have to say he is the worst signing the club made in a long time. The excuses don't make sense anymore because at first, it was like he had just gotten into a new country, then the language barrier was an issue as he needed more time to blend into the club. It's high time the truth was told which is Darwin is not the can of striker for the club at this moment.
There has been interest in Darwin Nunez from Saudi Arabia clubs and possibly other European clubs since January. Darwin Nunez will explore his options as he and the club have already agreed to part ways this summer. It's the best option for Darwin Nunez and the club to part ways as it will allow Nunez to start afresh in a new club and Liverpool to explore the option of getting a new striker this summer window. Now the big question will be who Liverpool will go for in the summer window. Some good strikers would fit Liverpool's profile next season.
The two names I am looking at will be Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyökeres. Victor Osimhen is an incredible player and can score goals from impossible positions. It is not just a fluke, as we all saw his stats at Galatasaray last season. The Turkish club is pushing to keep him at the club next season. Viktor Gyökeres is another incredible striker whose numbers this season with Sporting CP are astonishing to watch. Viktor Gyökeres has a release clause set, but things have become heated between the player and Sporting CP over his release clause. I have not paid too much attention to that saga but I will check it out soon.
Liverpool have the chance to go for a top striker this summer, and I just hope they don't miss out on the opportunity to try and bid for these players. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.
