Liverpool Vs Real Madrid Match Preview
The UEFA Champions League returns this week as the top competition in Europe enters its fourth matchday of the league phase. It's already getting tense little by little as there are four more matches to be played in the coming weeks to conclude the league phase of the competition. Liverpool's long losing run started in the Champions League after the Reds lost away to Galatasaray which I was not expecting because so far the team was doing okay in all competitions this season.
Liverpool has a huge task ahead of tomorrow's match as they will be hosting Real Madrid at Anfield Stadium in matchday four of the Champions League. Honestly, I have a lot of doubts that Arne Slot and the boys will walk away with all three points against Real Madrid. The truth is that Liverpool is having trouble and is not 100% on the field, even with the win against Aston Villa last weekend. I am still not convinced that the team can pull through against Real Madrid. The last time both teams met in the competition was last season and Liverpool were able to take all three points with a clean sheet in the game.
Real Madrid have been solid this season in all competitions, and were able to beat their rivals FC Barcelona in the El Clásico, and to top it all, Mbappe is having an incredible run this season. Liverpool's defence has been a shadow of itself, and I can clearly understand why Liverpool were pushing to get Marc Guehi last summer. Marc Guehi has been solid this season and it shows in the points he has gotten so far in the FPL. Konate and Virgil Van Dijk have been a shadow of themselves throughout the last month in all competitions.
It would have been good to see Giovanni Leoni in action, but injuries had other plans, as he is out till next year because of the ACL injury he picked up this season. I have no doubt that Liverpool will be going into the market to get a defender in the January transfer window, and if they don't, then it will be in the next summer window. Tomorrow's match is a chance for Liverpool to grab a win and send a message that they are still in top form and will push for all the titles this season.
It is not going to be an easy match and we all know how Real Madrid can be deadly on counterattacks. It is going to be a heavy job for Konate and Virgil Van Dijk to keep up with both Mbappe and Vinicius' pace when they face each other tomorrow night. Anything can happen in the match tomorrow, but in the end, I hope Liverpool can take all three points from the match. So that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
