The Reds Will Be Back Stronger
It has been a horrible weekend for the Reds as they lost to Manchester City 3-0 away from home. Honestly, I am confused with the team and don't know what to write anymore because there is no improvement from match to match, it clearly looks like they are getting worse with each matchday. Liverpool spent big money in the transfer window, and it was believed that this signing would help the team and increase squad depth, as there are a lot of matches to be played this season.
Now, with the right squad Arne Slot wanted, there has been no good performance from the team, which raises the question of whether spending that amount of money last summer was the best decision from the board. Arne Slot winning the Premier League last summer was seen as a fluke by many as the excuse last season was that most of the teams were not in form and some others said he was using the squad Klopp was building before he left the club permanently and I doubt those claims, but now it is looking more realistic each matchday.
Before last season ended, I remembered making a statement in one of my posts that it wouldn't be easy to win the Premier League back-to-back, considering that some teams would pick up form this season. It is happening like I said, but Liverpool's performance doesn't feel like a team that is pushing to defend their title this season. There is clearly a lot going on in the squad, and Arne Slot has to start getting things right because if this is how the team wants to continue this season, it won't take long before we start hearing the Arne Slot out chants, but I trust Liverpool to keep working with the Slots project.
The club is known to have long-term plans with managers which we saw with Klopp over the years and Liverpool were still willing to continue with Klopp, but the manager said it was his time to let go of the job and focus on himself for now and it's not looking like Klopp will be taking a managing job anytime soon. Arne Slot is a great manager and we all saw what he did last season with the team, so I still believe he can turn this issue around soon. Salah has been one of the players that has looked off since last month in the squad.
The Egyptian is even finding it hard to take on a man and trying to figure out if fatigue has set in, because at the start of the season, he was doing okay. The International break is already in motion, and I think it is a good time to take this break and regroup in two weeks. The team has to put in good results soon and hopefully get back to winning ways again. That will be all for now and stay tuned for more Liverpool content.
