The Luis Diaz Saga Is Over
It is now officially over between Liverpool and Luis Diaz as the Reds came to an agreement on a fee of 75 million euros with Bayern Munich for the purchase of the Colombian winger. The beginning of the year started with Luis Diaz' name echoing within the Barcelona fanbase after Barcelona's sporting director Deco made the Colombian winger his top target for the ongoing transfer window before Nico Williams came into the picture and halted Barcelona plans in pushing for Diaz and we all know how that turned out at the end between Nico and Barcelona.
FC Barcelona came back into the picture for Luis Diaz with another competitor which was Bayern Munich as there was a formal call from Bayern Munich to ask Liverpool about the situation with Luis Diaz and the Reds made it clear that they weren't going to sell the winger this summer as they want to keep him next season. Deco was in active talks with Luis Diaz's agent, but it clearly shows that nothing from those talks amounted to anything in the end, as the club dropped out of the race to sign the player because of the price tag.
Barcelona were willing to pay not more than 60 million euros for the Colombian winger, but as of last week, Liverpool were not ready to listen to any talks from either Bayern or Barcelona. It all changed when Luis Diaz became keen on leaving Liverpool to try another chapter in his career, and that sparked the negotiation skills between Bayern Munich and Liverpool. The German club's first bid, which was 65-67 million euros, was rejected by Liverpool as they valued the Colombian winger more than the amount Bayern Munich were proposing at first.
Bayern Munich improved their bid as they couldn't afford to miss out on signing Luis Diaz since they are in serious need of a winger. The club-to-club talks ended as Liverpool accepted the 75 million total package from Bayern Munich. Personal terms were never an issue with Luis Diaz as Bayern Munich agreed to pay more than he was receiving at Liverpool. The saga is over now and this story can be put behind all Liverpool fans for good. Now the big question is, will Liverpool go for a winger after completing the Isak deal?
Rodrygo has been one of the popular names coming up, but it is still uncertain as he could still be at Real Madrid this summer. I am interested to see how the club handles this situation because I know Ekitike will not be playing as a winger, and Florian Wirtz is not a natural winger as well, so let's see what happens in the coming weeks. Luis Diaz gave the club his best during his years at the club and I wish him the best in his new chapter at Bayern Munich.
The Isak deal is heating up as the days go by, as Liverpool is pushing to make the deal happen, even with how Newcastle United are being difficult in the negotiation. The Reds still remain optimistic about seeing this deal through to the end, and I can't wait to hear the official announcement from Fabrizio Romano soon.
