QUESTION-MARK ON THE RONALDO GOAL VERSUS URUGUAY

avatar
(Edited)

For those of us who watched that match yesterday, the 28th of November,2022,we saw him leap high into the air, as is characteristic of him,to attack a Fernandes pull-out and he wheeled away celebrating with his teammates because the ball landed at the back of the net.

On TV we were not sure if there was contact at first. I personally didn't think there was any. The replays began rolling in and it seemed hard for me to judge, but majority of the people around me(as I watched with a group of people) were so sure he scored with his head. We waited for the score board on TV and it was clearly written there that the goal was scored by Ronny and I accepted it that way. It's the Portugal,Uruguay match in focus ladies and gentlemen.

Ronaldo felt he scored the goal, but it seems instructive that he refused to do his usual "siuu" celebration, instead he ran to Fernandes and his teammates. In a lighter he asked popular journalist,Piers Morgan, after the match to say,the goal belonged to him—

FIFA now comes out to clarify the issue and it's with the use of technology– which gives peace of mind to many a people. It says the balls have installed in them a technology that can provide data and real-time data for that matter to match officials. The statement by FIFA reads– "In the match between Portugal and Uruguay, using the Connected Ball Technology housed in adidas's Al Rihla Official Match Ball, we are able to definitively show no contact on the ball from Cristiano Ronaldo for the opening goal in the game," a statement provided by FIFA on behalf of Adidas.

They went on to show the pictures below:

The focus here is actually the wave pattern down-left in each of the three pictures. The second picture shows a flat wave signal, meaning and I quote FIFA, "no external force on the ball could be measured" as it shows a flat-wave which denotes no touch on the ball or what FIFA calls "the lack of 'heartbeat' ". There is a sensor inside the ball called the 500Hz IMU sensor, that ensures that any contact with the ball is tracked to a very high degree of accuracy.

NOW TO IT

This leaves us with two questions:

  1. It is from Adidas. They made the ball and have access to the sensor in the ball. Also, Ronaldo is sponsored by Nike, so make of that what you will. Corruption has no respect for persons though.

  2. Pictures don't lie and seems to contradict this FIFA submission–

It's clear from above that the ball made contact with Ronaldo.

Now the technology says "no external force on the ball can be measured". What a contradiction? Nope actually they agree. The technology is simply saying it didn't sense a touch on the ball, it wasn't built to take pictures but to SENSE,PLEASE REMEMBER TO SENSE. It's built to capture every touch made by players on the ball using sensors, not pictures, and this will greatly add speed and veracity to VAR.

So what I suppose FIFA is saying, is that, hey we know it touched you, but it wasn't significant enough to distort the course of the ball(or it wasn't significant enough for the technological machinery to sense it),which is a possibility. No contradiction, the technology never laid any claim to utter perfection in the first place.

It's like the recent rule on deflected goals- not all deflections are counted as own goals by the opposition anymore. As a loose definition some deflected shots which were definitely goal bound are awarded as goals to the guy who took the shot.

So is the case of Ronny,I think FIFA sees it as a contact that wasn't significant.
By the way, hair contact is a legitmate contact,it's not my hair it's Ronny's hair.So whatever his hair does,is attributed to him.

What is beyond argument as per significance in this goal, is his bogus stature in world football and how that he rose to attack that ball. The keeper was confused by his leap(worried by a Ronaldo presence), that he forgot to track a ball that he could otherwise easily have gathered.

Well he can make do

Well be that as it may, the great Ronny has inadvertently made another history– scoring with his hair or should I say making goal-scoring contact with a ball, yet not distorting it's trajectory one bit.

They have snicko in cricket which picks up the feintest of touches and I don't think Ronaldo touched the ball. This photograph can look like he touched it just from the angle it is taken, but the ball looks already past his head. Go with the technology as it will pick up any touch no matter how slight as there are 500 signals sent every second.

Hi sir,
From FIFA- "The 500Hz IMU sensor inside the ball allows us to be highly accurate in our analysis."

"Highly accurate" is indeed the right word because even technologists know not to claim perfection.

I have chosen a safe way of viewing things. If the picture could be wrong, the technology isn't perfect either, so arguments will continue.

Like I said, what is beyond argument is how he confused the keeper with his jump.

Thanks for showing up.

On your second note below, like I've explained to you before I'll do my best once the conditions permit. You know I love to interact, infact I hope folks can interact more, even down to the discord channel of this tribe(it's like a graveyard over there).

Best regards sir

Please you need to be more active in order to receive extra curation. I have to check activity every time I forward posts and yours are just not active enough.

Most of the comments you do are replies to comment son your own posts and not on others. This is also a problem and you need to know why it is costing you lost rewards. You are not alone in this as it is a struggle to find posts that qualify.

I'm a little confused because if you check you will discover that I haven't made posts for a while now(I just resumed today) and I thought that's what you were referring to.

I made posts before this enforced break(including a painstaking one on Phil Jones of United) that got very little curation, eventhough I had been active on the posts of others. But well, I kept mute about it, I just keep doing what I can.
I appreciate all your efforts, time and time again.

Best regards sir

yes I saw that but even the few comments you have made recently have all been replies to comments on your posts.

Okay,if you say so,I don't have the internet leverage now to begin to do checks; however, my experience with you informs me that I can be sure of your checks.
Thanks for the help.

I thought we had finished on this, only for me to notice your reply today(down below),which I don't see as necessary since I had already replied to this.

Now I have the internet leverage to check and now I see that indeed I was correct in the first place. No please, it has not "all been" comments on my posts. I have made comments on other people's posts recently, ranging from tennis(my second sport), to Formula 1,to health, and ofcourse football.

Maybe it's a good thing that you didn't allow this matter end here and you still replied below. It means you now owe me a lot.🙂

But seriously,no wonder it didn't seem right when you began to speak initially(remember I said I was a "little confused"), but my trust for your work and my limited internet access that day made me accept your analysis. Now I see it was faulty, it's actually feels like someone accusing me falsely.

Please be guided accordingly and allow my posts(you have applauded) get the recognition they deserve. My recent activities have not been only on my posts please @cryptoandcoffee .

Thanks for your efforts sir

Lol. Can't believe you feel that way as my comment was an example of what I saw over the last couple of weeks. Takes time to fix and not foxed within a day so we shall see how it goes as it is all up to you. You are making things worse for yourself as you say I am wrong when in fact I am fair an honest with everyone.

Just checked again and you just don't get it. This was only about the last 2 weeks and lack of activity. From the look of things you always think you are right when you need to pay attention when people are trying to help you. In future I will keep quiet.

My guy Ronaldo's head did not touch that ball but his movement made the goal possible when even made the issue funny because he actually when to text Piers Morgan that he touches the ball, she should be happy his team are headed to the knock out stage not fighting for a goal.

No question mark over whether he touched it or not. He didn't touch it. Just people in denial about what happened or don't know how angles can manipulate perspective.

Ronaldo touched the ball the same this woman is holding the sun

The arguments are continuing for the same reason we still have flat earthers: Some people just refuse to listen to facts. We could argue about how much something weighs, but if a weight scale is introduced and gives you a number, the argument is over. You wouldn't still be arguing because the manufacturing company said "highly accurate" as that's a line that has to be put there for legal reasons.

Hehe,nice one sir.
Well as an Engineer,I know that weight scales can be faulty and we have checks to be sure the scale hasn't been compromised.
That's why every weight scale must undergo a maintenance procedure as at when due,to be as close as possible to the standard scale. In very delicate cases we give a tolerance range to account for any deviation from the standard.

No p,I agree for legal reasons and the first paragraph means there is a scientific reason to that too.

Thanks for engaging.
