WHAT DOES IT PROFIT WATFORD?

Hi everyone, it's been quite a while as per my posts. I'll do this bit whilst I work on trying to be more available.

Yeah it's Watford FC of the English Premier League. They are second from bottom and I have said I was baffled at the decision to bring in Mr. Roy Hodgson as coach. Two months ago I predicted that they will go down in my post titled Watford Relegated.... For me, it was an easy prediction to make. A little excerpt from this my post says:

"Suddenly the trigger happy management decided to fire him[Claudio Ranieri] in late January and you will be thinking they would bring in a better coach, only for us to see Roy Hodgson arrive on the scene. Another elder statesman and no disrespect to him. Instantly I knew Watford was in trouble. That he coached Crystal Palace admirably for two seasons, is no qualification to coach Watford in this pressure moment. Since the club didn't want to go for a top rated coach, they would have been better of signing the experienced Sammy Allardyce and they can go to sleep, knowing that they won't go down. Now they are in an absolute mess"

With just 4 games to go for Watford this season and them being 12 points away from safety, Roy Hodgson has confirmed today that he will indeed quit the Hertfordshire club at the end of the season. Once Mr Hodgson said he is unaware of his future with Watford, that it's the club's prerogative to keep him or send him packing. Then later on in April an exclusive report from The Sun had it that Hodgson is to leave no matter this season's outcome.

Bottomline is that he himself has confirmed he is leaving at the expiration of this season and making it clear that he signed only a short term contract.

Roy Hodgson is 74 years old, he deserves his rest, infact he was called out of retirement for this job, just today he was "anointed" by Buckingham Palace as he received his Commander of the Order of the British Empire(CBE) award, presented to him by Prince Williams, for his service to football. He is also a former coach of the English national team, where he didn't fair badly. He will have little or no complaints as per his entire coaching career, whilst it will be such a perilous time for Watford.

Yet the issue was their own making. The trigger happy management have succeeded in doing nothing, nay have succeeded in turning the nozzle of the gun at themselves and pulling the trigger. Another excerpt from my post above:

"Take a look at Watford, just take a look at them. Even when Claudio Ranieri was signed in October, they weren't doing terribly, they had played 7 matches and won 2, losing 4. Okay if for whatever reason the club is so ambitious, why hire a Ranieri?.."

This is a club that invested heavily in playing staff, they have to now go through that famous but arduous pathway of trimming down salaries, selling off players balancing the books because for a start, surely from the business perspective they have made telling losses this season.

I hope they learn as they descend into the stiff competition called, The Championship.

Cheers

certainly a bad decision, I agree with you that Allardyce would have been a better option, bad decisions lead to bad results and now Watford will have to assume their mistakes and try to improve their football to get back to the Premier League as soon as possible.

Their relegation is certain but to some extent, I feel the team is genuinely strong enough to make it back to the EPL after a season.

"The team". Wells that's the issue, will they have "the team"? The second to last paragraph of my write-up highlights what happens to a relegated team.

Thanks man,for showing up.

Perhaps some players would leave but maybe not all the key players.
