Chelsea Bounced Back.
Chelsea hosted Southampton and would be desperate to get back to winning ways after suffering defeats to Manchester City (in the league) and against Juventus (in the Champions League). A lot has been said about Tuchel's team regarding their resilience and ability to win games. They had to put those two defeats at the back of their mind to produce a spirited performance against the Saints and they delivered.
Every game in the Premier League counts and more so, getting points against the middle and lower-ranked teams in the league helps as other title challengers might falter as we have seen with Everton grabbing a point against Manchester United.
Chelsea got off to a flying start with a brilliant delivery into the box from a corner kick. The ball was perfectly flicked into the path of Chalobah and he made sure he got his low header into the back of the net to catch the defence line off guard. It was a perfect start for Chelsea and that settled them into the game after going 1-0 up just in the 9th minute.
Southampton had a wonderful chance to punish Chelsea with Walcott being perfectly picked out inside the box but his header flew wide instead. What a chance missed by the Saints. Chelsea thought they had gotten the second goal after Timo Werner nodded home only for VAR to check the build-up to the goal and saw a foul by Azpilicueta which made the goal to be ruled out. As you would say, Timo Werner's woes continued. He would play brilliantly but found himself at the wrong end of decisions sometimes, strike the post or just missed anyhow. He would have felt hard done by there.
Southampton finally dragged themselves back into the game despite the rain beating down heavily after Chilwell Romeu inside the box. Romeu's won the penalty kick against his former side and the referee wasted no time in pointing to the spot. Ward-Prowse stepped up to take the penalty in the 61st minute and he sent Mendy the wrong way to draw his side level, 1-1.
Ward-Prowse went from hero to villain in the 77th minute after his clumsy challenge against Jorginho. The referee initially gave him a yellow card but after a VAR review, he changed it to a red card and gave him his marching orders. Southampton went down to 10 men with less than 20 minutes more to play.
Chelsea pounced on the numerical advantage they had on Southampton after Barkley's across the field pass found Azpilicueta on the edge of the box and his one time low pass delivery into the box was met by Timo Werner who got the ball rolling into the back of the net to give Chelsea a 2-1 lead in the 84th minute.
Chelsea struck the post in the 89th minute as the rebound perfectly fell to Ben Chilwell whose volley managed to cross the line despite being saved by the goalkeeper. The goal-line technology picked out the goal and Chelsea ended the game with a resounding 3-1 and also being at the top of the league as well.
Chelsea would be happy to get back into winning ways and also being at the top of the league.

I was so annoyed with the outcome of the game,I am a manchester city so I was praying they loose since we would be facing liverpool at anfield which wasn't going to be easy, southampton played pretty well but as their main player ward-prowse was given a red card the game changed and they won the game well let's see how this season turns out.
Hahahaha that's expected.. no one wants their rival to win and that's fair. I enjoyed Liverpool v Man City game though... Good attacking sides.
