Curse of the Cup?

I don't know what's with Chelsea and losing the FA Cup in the final. I felt things would change for them a little after I witnessed how they rallied around to give that impressive showing against Leeds United. They have been struggling before now and I thought their sitting in the 3rd position might also be threatened by Arsenal but they knew what was at stake and they sealed their spot against Leeds.

You would expect them also to know what's at stake this time around but unfortunately, they faltered as they lost on penalties to Liverpool after Azpilicueta and Mason Mount both lost their spot-kicks and Liverpool won 6-5 to keep their Quadruple hope alive.

Chelsea has 3 straight appearances in the FA Cup in the final before now and they have also had 4 finals in 5 seasons but it's saddening that the competition doesn't seem to like them that much. They last won the FA Cup title in the 2017/2018 season against Manchester United and since then, they have lost to Arsenal in the final of the 2019/2020 season while also repeating the same with Leicester City in the 2020/2021 season. Now, they have lost another final to Liverpool.

The quadruple hope is alive for Liverpool even though I personally feel it would be hard for them to achieve. The only realistic option for Liverpool is to claim the treble but the most recognized treble that most people brag about would have to be the Premier League title, a domestic Cup and a European Trophy; notably the UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool would need a miracle to snatch the Premier League title from Manchester City and if they can pull that off, it would be a remarkable feat for the Reds but with how things are at the top of the table, it's looking like a daunting task right now. The only realistic chance would be against Real Madrid in the final and even at that, Liverpool can look back and be proud of how their season went. It has been a remarkable season for Liverpool so far with 2 domestic trophies already in the bag.

Manchester City were the first team to win a domestic treble in 2018/2019. They had a clean sweep of domestic titles and now, Liverpool has the chance to do the same if they can sneak behind to take the League and go one better to win the Champions League.

Liverpool won the UEFA Cup, FA Cup and League Cup in the 2000/2001 season while in the 1983/1984 season they won the League, League Cu and the European Cup. They still haven't had a clean sweep and it would be interesting to see what they would do this season and the kind of history they would make in the process.

The major concern now would be Mohammed Salah that didn't complete the FA Cup final against Chelsea after he appeared to have walked away injured to be replaced by Diogo Jota. They would need him for this League title push and hope he would be available also for the Champions League final. It would be a blow if he is out for long because the tail end of the season is when you need your best hands.

Chelsea would also need to change their luck going forward because they have lost enough finals when they had the chance to win it. Liverpool would also need to improve their performances by being clinical, especially how they fired blank against Chelsea. It was a game of chances for both teams but none of them took these chances. It was a game that lived up to the hype because both teams gave little away just that they couldn't make the most of the little chances.

Liverpool would hope that the extra time they played against Chelsea won't tell on them in their next Premier League game because they can't afford to be further behind City by dropping points yet again.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely, I wasn't even expecting Chelsea to make it to the shootouts but it happened and that's giving me more concern about what Liverpool would look like against Madrid in the UCL final.

Chelsea losing the finals, I really do not think there's much of a big deal there not to talk of a curse and for yesterday, they weren't the better club, we all know that.

If that was Pep getting to 4 finals in 5 and losing it all, they would blame an ex player for laying the curse 🤣🤣😂😂😂. They have been unlucky and Liverpool played better. It's scary what the final would hold for Liverpool and Real Madrid. I can't even say confidently who will win but Liverpool will show that fight as usual.

The match was a good one, the match was predictable but the penalty can not be predicted and surprisingly the match was just a replay of what we saw in the Caraboa Cup final.

Liverpool could have probably won the match before 90 minutes, the team is down with fatigue. It would difficult playing without the likes of Van dijk and Salah.

Fatigue surely set in. I was worried when they played 120 minutes of football too and now it would tell again in their next Premier League game. They can hope both players would be fit for the Champions League final.

They should let go off the league, the Champions League matters now. Manchester City wouldn't lose for any reason.

That's the only thing to do. Champions League is the chase now.

Let me burst your bubbles

Both Coutinho and Steven Gerrard couldn't win the EPL with Liverpool.

Now, this is their chance to win the trophy for Liverpool in their final game with City.

😂😂🤣🤣😂🤣 this is what I told @george-dee . They would be doing Liverpool a huge favour and Aston Villa can ruin the party for City.
