Everton Dragged Into Relegation Fight.

I knew it is a matter of time before they get dragged into this fight. Their exploit against Manchester United only bought them time but I knew they won't be able to last that long. I know they have a game at hand but we know that nothing is certain but only the points that have been accounted for. I respected Lampard as a player but not so much as a coach. It is looking as if he is half baked and just threw himself into this coaching job and it's telling. I know the only way they get experience is by mistakes but with the decent team he has with Everton, I expected better.

Let's assume the players had issues with Rafa Benitez and Lampard should be able to know better after his experience with Chelsea. It's looking as if nothing has changed so much for him other than the crest of the club. I am not confident that they would easily navigate this relegation fight and it's still dependent on the results of the others anyway.

They still have Chelsea, Leicester City and Arsenal to play and I don't see them winning any of these games. They might grind out results against Watford, Brentford and Crystal Palace but it's dependent on the results of other relegation-threatened teams that would determine if their points gained mattered or not.

In all fairness, Everton shaped up so well and frustrated Liverpool in the Merseyside derby. They restricted Liverpool for a long spell but Robertson got the better of Pickford with a lovely pass from Salah. I knew the derby game would be feisty and it proved to be with tackles flying everywhere. Everton knew they had to get a point but at this stage of the season, Liverpool are not willing to share. Everton knew they must get a point after Burnley won their game and Liverpool knew they can't stay further behind Manchester City after their comprehensive win a day before.

I have to say I admire the impressive attitude of Origi. He has been overlooked for too long and still, anytime he is called upon, he delivers. He made sure Liverpool sealed the 3 points after Diaz's lovely volley bounced off the turf and he reacted quickly to head the ball into the back of the net. He is a super-sub even though he said he doesn't like being called that. I think any team that gets him at the end of the season would be lucky, due to his work rate, impressive attitude and wonderful eyes for goal.

He repeated this same feat against Everton last season and now, he was at it again to remind everyone that he is still at the club and can be relied on when called upon. Liverpool won the Derby and they finally unlocked Frank Lampard's side with 2 headed goals. This title race might go down to the end of the season and I am ready to see the upsets that might spring up along the way.

As for Everton, I don't know what they would do with Frank Lampard even if he managed to escape the relegation. I think they didn't want to sack him because it might disrupt the flow but with the fixture list they have ahead of them, it would take a miracle to escape the relegation this season but who says miracles don't happen? We would have to wait and see...
