Gerrard's Run Came To An End.

Who else other than Pep Guardiola's men were capable of putting a dent in the brilliant run of Aston Villa under their new manager; Steven Gerrard. Aston Villa has been enjoying life under the new manager who has been feeding them with his ideas and they knew City would be a tough test for them and it proved to be as they surrendered to a 2-1 defeat at Villa Park.

Ruben Dias and the in-form Bernado Silva both have City a two-goal cushion before Ollie Watkins halved the deficit to give Villa hope of getting a draw from the game but they were unable to nick it as City held on strong and ran away with a 2-1 victory.

Sterling ran the left side of the pitch and his brilliant cut back found Ruben Dias waiting just outside the box. Dias struck his shot and at first, it looked casual but you would understand the technique and power of that strike the moment it found the back of the net. It was a low powerful drive that found the bottom right side of the post with the goalkeeper unable to keep it out. It gave City a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute in a spectacular fashion. Dias is now City's 17th different scorer this season...what a team.

In the 43rd minute, Bernado Silva showed why he is a deadly player after Fernandinho managed to lose his marker despite the threat his dancing around the ball posed for his team in a delicate part of the pitch - around the box. He managed to pick out Gabriel Jesus with a lovely long pass and Jesus wasted no time to square a volley pass into the path of Bernado Silva. Silva wasted no chance as he struck the ball cleanly and one time too. The ball found the back of the net as City scored another spectacular goal on the night to go 2 goals up.

Watkins have Villa hope of a comeback in the 47th minute after Douglas Luiz's corner-kick picked Watkins out inside the box and he struck the ball cleanly and fast too as Ederson couldn't keep the ball out. It was a nightmare start to the second half for City.

Aston Villa almost drew level after another brilliant team play. Douglas Luiz found Buendia just outside the box and he expertly set up Chukwuemeka but his effort inside the box was stopped by the quickness and brilliance of Ederson to keep the score at 2-1.

It was a spirited performance from Villa as they did everything to get something out of the game but City held on and squeezed out the 3 points even when it wasn't easy.

Steven Gerrard did well, the one goal difference showed that the Villa boys played their hearts on the pitch.

They really played their hearts out and could have even gotten a draw in the end.
