Not Pretty But It's 3 Points.

Brentford hosted Manchester City and hoped to cause an upset since they have been a formidable opponent in this season after their promotion into the English Premier League. The only difference between the two sides was Phil Foden who extended City's lead at the top of the table after playing the same number of games with Chelsea.

It wasn't the best of performance from City who had their 2nd goal ruled off for offside but Brentford would feel disappointed not to get anything out of this game despite their impressive showing.

Brentford would have gone ahead if not for a timely intervention from Ruben Dias whose deflection was also brilliantly saved by Ederson. It would have gone in if not for his alertness. It wasn't long after that City had another goalmouth scramble and if not for the headed clearance on the line from Cancelo, Brentford would have taken the lead.

City knew they had to respond quickly and they did after the impressive Kevin De Bruyne picked out Foden inside the box and with swiftness, alertness and instinct, he guided the ball into the back of the net with ease and with a single touch. It was a quick and beautiful goal from Foden who was still subjected to a VAR check before the goal was given.

Kevin De Bruyne would have gotten his first goal of the game but the second for City after he picked out a spot and he unleashed a shot. His shot came off the post after the goalkeeper was clearly beaten with his low power show.

Laporte thought he had extended the lead after he powered home from a lovely freekick delivery. Even Guardiola was happy because a 1-0 lead is never to be relied on. The VAR checked and Laporte's goal was ruled out for offside. Manchester City played the last part of the game with pressure as Brentford tried to get something out of the game but they couldn't.

This is what it means to have quality and snatch a win. Manchester City didn't play at their best but they got the job done and this is the stuff champions are made off - the ability to squeeze out the point even when they are not at their best. City ends the year 8 points ahead of Chelsea in 2nd place. The title is now City's to lose. This is the Premier League, a lot can change within a month as we saw how Arsenal lost out of every competition within a month a few years ago but this City side are ruthless because they hardly give anything away but we have to wait and see.

Like you said, during these times especially points are all that matters. 8-0 or 1-0 would have gotten City the same amount of points. I really hope we (Arsenal) could stop that winning form as it would be a great booster for our Champions League chances.

Arsenal has been playing well recently and let's hope they keep the momentum.
