Chelsea the underdogs at world club cup

Many see Chelsea participation in 2025 FIFA Club World Cup as underdogs while few saw them as serious contenders.

Chelsea were drawn in Group D that featured Flamengo, Esperance de Tunis, and LAFC.The Blues quickly set the tone. In their opening game, they defeated LAFC 2–0, with goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fenandes.

A loss to Flamengo in the second game threaten Chelsea progress to round of sixteen and a potential meeting with Bundesliga gaints Bayern Munich. They round up group stage with an emphatic 3–0 win against Esperance, with young talents like Liam Delap getting his debute goal for Chelsea and Tyrique George stepping up to the occasion.

Chelsea finish second in their group setting up a round of 16 against Benefica who finish first ahead Bayerm Munich. They beat Benefica 4:1 in extra time after a 1:1 draw at full time in a match that was suspended for some hours due to climate. Moving on to quarter final, Chelsea again beat two Brazilian team Palmaries and Flumines, 2:1 and 2:0 respectively to set up a final against either PSG or Real Madrid.

It is yet to be seen if Chelsea can lift up the trophy but it has been a good rurnament for Chelsea who were mostly seen by many as underdogs . Against all odds chelsea is in the final and am so happy to see my darling club in the final. Hope the cup comes to Stamford bridge.
