The first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final between Manchester City and Real Madrid was a marvellous, spectacular and vibrant clash. There was no conservatism, a broken game in which both attacked with the weapons they possess, City had the Merengues on the strings, but they have done an incredible exercise in resilience and will rely on the magic of the Santiago Bernabeu to look for their umpteenth comeback.

No hubo conservadurismo, partido roto en el que ambos atacaron con las armas que poseen, el City tuvo contra las cuerdas a los Merengues que han hecho un enésimo ejercicio de resiliencia y se encomendarán a la magia del Santiago Bernabéu para buscar su enésima remontada.
A Real Madrid disastrous in defence was able to compensate with its audacity and forcefulness in attack to stand up to a Manchester City side that was absolutely faithful to the football they usually play match after match. The first 15 minutes of the game at the Eitihad would have been enough for Manchester City to break down any team in the world, except for a Real Madrid side that took to the pitch in a passive mood that Guardiola's side were to punish. Less than two minutes into the game when Mahrez cut in from the far right, cut inside, beat four Madrid players and slipped in the perfect cross for Kevin De Bruyne to head home and send the home crowd wild.

No se habían cumplido dos minutos de juego cuando Mahrez por la nada derecha enganchó hacia el centro, superó hasta 4 madridistas y colgó el centro perfecto para el movimiento de Kevin De Bruyne que con su cabezazo desataba la algarabía en el graderío local.
A completely stunned Madrid, without control of the ball and without understanding how to position themselves on the pitch to stop the Sky Blue gale, were to be struck a second blow in the 10th minute. De Bruyne sent the ball into the box and David Alaba was not strong enough to challenge Gabriel Jesus, the ball was left at the mercy of the Brazilian striker who shot past Thibaut Courtois and seemed to put the tie on track too soon in favour of Guardiola's side.
Un Real Madrid completamente aturdido tras el primer golpe Cityzen, sin control de pelota y sin entender como posicionarse en el campo para frenar el vendaval Sky Blue, habría de recibir un segundo golpe al minuto 10’. De Bruyne envió al área y David Alaba no estuvo contundente en la disputa de balón con Gabriel Jesús, la esférica quedó a merced del ariete brasileño que fusiló a Thibaut Courtois y parecía encaminar la eliminatoria excesivamente pronto a favor de los de Guardiola.
Los Merengues were no longer stunned, but rather dismayed. City's dominance was absolute and their usual ball circulation made the visitors giddy and created the space to look for a third; Mahrez and Foden had the chance but they were unable to take advantage. Ancelotti's side were a mess, but they had Karim Benzema in their ranks, who, in the 33rd minute, connected with his first ball and converted it into a goal that was no less than a breath of life for Los Blancos.
Los Merengues ya no estaban aturdidos, sino seminoquedos. El dominio del City era absoluto y su habitual circulación de pelota mareaba a los visitantes y generaba los espacios para buscar el tercero en su cuenta; lo tuvo Mahrez y también Foden pero no supieron aprovecharlo. Los de Ancelotti eran un despropósito, pero tienen en sus filas a Karim Benzema, que al minuto 33, conecto su primer balón y lo convirtió en un gol que era no menos que un soplo de vida para los blancos.
The Cityzen got off to a flying start in the second half, and in the 47th minute they could have made it 3-1 but the post saved Mahrez's goal and Carvajal almost miraculously saved Phil Foden's counter-attack on the goal line. The third for Guardiola's side was in sight and it came in the 53rd minute with a wonderful cross from Fernandinho after a lost ball in the Merengue defence, which Foden punished with a neat header.

But Real Madrid reacted almost immediately thanks to Vinicius Junior; the Brazilian perpetrated that magical kind of self-pass without touching the ball, leaving Fernandinho in his sights and then setting off with the speed of a Tasmanian devil, perfect driving and brilliant finishing in front of Ederson. Madrid breathed again!

A fourth City strike, one that looked lethal, came after Kroos fouled Zinchenko, the referee let the advantage run and Bernardo Silva produced a gem of a finish inside the box that left Courtois standing still and froze Madridismo in their tracks after 74 minutes.

Absolute madness!
Al minuto 80’ Laporte cometía una inexplicable mano en el área, se sancionó el penalti y fue Karim Benzema quien, habiendo fallado dos cobros ante Osasuna en jornada anterior por LaLiga, hizo gala de su absoluta personalidad para tomar la pelota y cobrar a lo Panenka en un momento decisivo del encuentro. 4-3 y el Real Madrid salió vivo del durísimo intercambio de golpes del Eitihad. ¡Locura absoluta!

Lo que hizo el City fue un paseo al Real Madrid, creo que los fanáticos del Madrid dirán pueden sentirse a gusto después de todo, porque al final no fue una goleada escandalosa.
Creo que otra vez los nervios y le miedo le jugaron una mala pasada al City.
Y Benzema que es el mejor delantero de la actualidad es imparable. Gran juego.
Hola @kraken99, es verdad que el City le pasó por encima futbolisticamente a un Real Madrid que terminó haciendo mucho daño con muy poco, Benzema en estado de gracia y una genialidad de Vinicius han bastado para que los blancos traigan la eliminatoria más que abierta de vuelta a Madrid.
El Real Madrid es un equipo impresionante tiene una habilidad de conseguir resultados aun en las condiciones mas adversas, claramente estuvieron muy mal defensivamente pero una vez mas consigue en Benzema y Vini el oxigeno para mantenerse en competencia. Habra que esperar al partido de Madrid, creo que si el City deberá evitar los errores defensivos para poder sacar ese partido en el Bernabeu
Así es querido @juanpia16. Los merengues estuvieron contra las cuerdas en tres ocasiones y supieron golpear de vuelta en la misma cantidad de veces, fueron resilientes ante la superioridad del City y su premio ha sido traer la eliminatoria abierta de vuelta a Madrid.

Sounds like an Instant Classic....
Well, though Benzema scored just two of them, he is absolutely vital for Real Madrid's aspirations.
It was a breathtaking match to watch as we saw a rain of seven goals. Top-notch performance from both sides however, City won the show in the part one. As we wait the return match, no one can boldly tell who'll progress to the finals.

Estas en lo cierto amigo, fue una exhibición magnifica en Manchester y por parte de ambos equipos, ambos lucharon por la victoria y al final la alcanzo quizás quien mayorió y domino e partido, así que merecida para los guiados por Pep Guardiola, lo que se nos viene la próxima semana sera exquisito, un partidazo para definir quien pasa a la gran Final en Francia, a disfrutarlo, Saludos.
