GLORIOSO ANIVERSARIO AL AVE DE LAS TEMPESTADES [ESP/ENG]

12 de octubre de 1916, era fundado al sur de la Ciudad de México -por aquel entonces México Distrito Federal- el que sería a la postre el equipo más ganador del futbol mexicano. El Club de Fútbol América ha cumplido 106 años de absoluto protagonismo. Los canarios, los cremas, los millonetas, motes que han ido cediendo con el paso del tiempo y el crecimiento de su protagonismo, los canarios mutaron a Águilas y el Águila –al menos en el futbol mexicano- es un Ave de Tempestades.
El América nació con madera de antagonista; Don Emilio Azcárraga Milmo, magnate de la Comunicación en México, dueño y presidente -en aquel entonces- de Grupo Televisa, compró al Club con la firme convicción de crear un archirrival para el Deportivo Guadalajara, el otrora equipo más popular de México, el Club que se había ganado a golpe de títulos el mote de “Campeonísimo”. Los contrastes son importantes, Azcárraga los encontró y los explotó al máximo al construir la personalidad con la que su América habría de conquistar el panorama del futbol mexicano.
Azcárraga creó entonces al némesis perfecto, un equipo que mediante la inversión en jugadores de talla mundial y apoyado en la infraestructura del medio de comunicación más importante de América Latina, durante varias décadas, tuvo una vitrina inmejorable y supo escribir su propia leyenda una que creció a tales niveles que ha opacado a cualquier otra en el futbol mexicano.
On October 12th 1916, in the south of Mexico City the club that would later become the most successful team in Mexican football was founded. Club de Fútbol América has celebrated 106 years of absolute prominence. Los Canarios, Los Cremas, Los Millonetas, nicknames that have been changing with the passing of time and the growth of their prominence, Los Canarios mutated into Aguilas and Aguila -at least in Mexican football- is a Bird of Tempest.
Don Emilio Azcárraga Milmo, Mexico's communication magnate, owner and president -at that time- of Grupo Televisa, bought the Club with the firm conviction of creating an arch-rival for Deportivo Guadalajara, once the most popular team in Mexico, the Club that had earned the nickname of "Campeonísimo" by winning titles. Contrasts are important, Azcárraga found them and exploited them to the full in building the personality with which his América would conquer the Mexican football scene.
Azcárraga then created the perfect nemesis, a team that by investing in world-class players and supported by the infrastructure of the most important media in Latin America, for several decades, had an unbeatable showcase and knew how to write its own legend, one that grew to such levels that it has overshadowed any other in Mexican football.

Su presente es no menos que fulgurante, terminó la temporada regular del Apertura 2022 como líder absoluto del torneo siendo la mejor ofensiva del mismo; y habiendo amasado una larga racha de 12 partidos invicto con 11 victorias y 1 empate. El América entró a la Liguilla de la Liga MX infundiendo miedo a los rivales y su puesta en escena en el juego de ida de los Cuartos de Final, justo en el día de su 106 cumpleaños, sería la confirmación absoluta de ese futbol vertiginoso.
Club de Futbol América in Mexico is the epitome of extremes; a team as deeply loved by its fans as it is hated by the fans of the rival team -whichever team it may be-. "El Ame" leaves no one indifferent, you either love America or you hate them, there are no half measures, there is no middle ground.
Their present is no less than dazzling, they finished the regular season of the Apertura 2022 as the absolute leader of the tournament being the best offensive of the tournament; and having amassed a long streak of 12 games undefeated with 11 wins and 1 draw. America entered the Liga MX Liguilla instilling fear in their opponents and their performance in the first leg of the Quarter-Finals, on their 106th birthday, would be the absolute confirmation of that blistering football.
Al minuto 14’ con ambos equipos aun estudiándose dentro del terreno de juego en el Estadio Cuauhtémoc, el Puebla habría de adelantarse en el marcador. Buena combinación de Maxi Araujo con Omar Fernández que vio a Fede Mancuello en posición de disparo y le cedió el esférico para que probara suerte al arco de Ochoa; suerte que encontró en el desvió de Jordi Cortizo que alcanzó a rozar la pelota para que se anidase en el arco americanista. 1-0 adelantaba el combativo Puebla de Nicolás Larcamón.
Pero el América de Fernando Ortíz haría gala de su personalidad, y al haberse rebasado apenas la primera media hora de juego, iba a emparejar los cartones en un gran centro a pelota parada por parte de Richard Sánchez que Diego Valdés empujó de cabeza con comodidad absoluta. 1-1 para los muchachos de “el Tano” que volverían a la carga solo dos minutos después con una gran pelota de Diego Valdés ahora en su rol de asistidor para que Henry Martín clavara el segundo golpe en el pecho de “La Franja”.
Tras el descanso, con 57 minutos en el reloj, Néstor Araujo envío un pase tan largo como preciso al movimiento de un Henry Martín en absoluto estado de gracia que firmaba su doblete y el 3-1 para los de Coapa. Turno para Alex Zendejas al 65’; violento disparo de Valdés que Antony Silva escupió para que el mexicoamericano empujara el 4-1 favorable al visitante.
In the 14th minute, with both teams still studying each other on the pitch at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc, Puebla took the lead. A good combination between Maxi Araujo and Omar Fernández saw Fede Mancuello in a shooting position and gave him the ball to try his luck at Ochoa's goal; luck that he found in the deflection of Jordi Cortizo who managed to dab the ball so that it nestled in the America's goal. 1-0 ahead for Nicolás Larcamón's combative Puebla.
But Fernando Ortiz's America would show their character, and just after the first half hour of play, they would level the score from a great cross from a set piece by Richard Sanchez that Diego Valdes headed in with absolute comfort. It was 1-1 for "el Tano's" boys, who were back in the game just two minutes later with a great ball from Diego Valdés, now in his role as assistant, for Henry Martín to put the second shot into the chest of "La Franja".
After the break, with 57 minutes on the clock, Néstor Araujo sent a pass as long as it was precise to the movement of a Henry Martín in an absolute state of grace who signed his double and the 3-1 for Los de Coapa. It was Alex Zendejas' turn in the 65th minute; a violent shot from Valdés that Antony Silva spat out for the Mexican-American to push in to make it 4-1 in favour of the visitors.

Varios cambios por parte de ambos técnicos tras el cuarto gol del América, Ortíz buscando dar descanso a algunos jugadores de cara a la vuelta y Larcamón buscando sacudir el árbol para que su “Franja” reaccionara. No hubo reacción poblana, pero sí más sangría americanista pues al 77’ Memo Ochoa envió un despeje largo para Brian Rodríguez que llevaba 15 segundos en el terreno de juego y enfiló al arco aprovechando el desconcierto de la zaga poblana para marcar el 5-1.
Y ya en tiempo añadido, una joya llena de generosidad entre compañeros, una brillante pared entre Jonathan Rodríguez y Federico Viñas dentro del área rival que culminó con una pintura de gol con sabor a mate, los delanteros de la Republica Oriental del Uruguay firmaban con el 6-1 una lapidaria actuación del Club América que es más que serio candidato al Campeonato.
El América ha vencido al Puebla en 10 de sus últimos 12 enfrentamientos por Liga MX (2 empates completan la estadística); si los de Larcamón quieren revertir la eliminatoria, el sábado en el Estadio Azteca, habrán de vencer al América por marcador de 6-0, una tarea que se antoja por demás compleja.

Both coaches made several changes after América's fourth goal, with Ortíz looking to rest some players for the second leg and Larcamón looking to shake the tree so that his "Franja" could react. There was no reaction from Puebla, but there was more bloodletting from America, because at 77' Memo Ochoa sent a long clearance to Brian Rodriguez, who had been on the pitch for 15 seconds and headed into the goal, taking advantage of the confusion of the Puebla defence to score the 5-1.
And already in added time, a gem full of generosity between teammates, a brilliant one-two between Jonathan Rodríguez and Federico Viñas inside the rival area that culminated with a goal that tasted like a mate, the forwards of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay signed with the 6-1 a lapidary performance of Club América that is more than a serious candidate for the title.
America have beaten Puebla in 10 of their last 12 Liga MX meetings (2 draws complete the statistics); if Larcamon's side want to turn the tie around, on Saturday at the Azteca Stadium, they will have to beat America 6-0, a task that looks extremely complex.
