La UEFA Champions League es esa competición en la que acontece de todo y en ocasiones ese todo llega con una lógica enrevesada y compleja. En el Santiago Bernabéu convergían, para reeditar la semifinal de la temporada anterior, un equipo que es historia absoluta de la competición y otro que ostenta un presente tan brillante como prometedor; el Real Madrid buscaba la final que le represente la oportunidad de alcanzar su decimoquinta Copa de Europa, el City, por su parte, una nueva chance de -por fin- alcanzar esa “Joya de la Corona” que se les ha resistido.
Todo quedó abierto para la vuelta en el Etihad, tras 90 minutos de un partido extenuante y bien jugado por ambos, con un Real Madrid que supo golpear cuando el City era mejor, y unos Cityzens que hicieron lo propio en la segunda mitad; un obus de cada bando, el de Vini primero y el de De Bruyne después han puesto la paridad en el marcador de cara a la batalla en suelo mancuniano entre dos equipazos cuyos centrodelanteros se han reservado el parque o, más bien, estuvieron un tanto maniatados por las defensivas rivales; en tal tenor habrá que resaltar el tremendo encuentro de Rüdiger para contener, más bien secar, a Haaland.

El Madrid habrá de buscar el boleto a una nueva final de su competición fetiche sin el aliento del Bernabéu para llevarle en volandas y también sin haber conseguido una ventaja, pero este no es un escenario nuevo para los de Chamartín y cuando se vieron inmersos en él, también supieron solventarlo… No iremos lejos, la vuelta de semifinal de Copa del Rey en el Camp Nou. Tanto el City como el Madrid se comportaron a la altura de las circunstancias en este primer episodio, pero echaron en falta a sus “nueves”, ni Karim fue el del “Balón de Oro”, ni Erling el “Vikingo incontenible”; dichas armas letales esperan su ocasión para brillar en el campo de batalla de Manchester.
Incontables ocasiones hemos mencionado esa paciencia de Ancelotti como sello de su táctica y estrategia, hoy, de arranque, su Real Madrid fue casi italiano por momentos, esperando al City para buscar ofenderle en una especie de Catenaccio que rindió frutos en una emboscada descomunal, los de Ancelotti montaron una pared en campo propio que tuvo como protagonistas a Camavinga -de excelso partido- y al genio de Zadar -siempre presente en estos encuentros de alta demanda- Modric propulsó la arrancada del francés que corrió con tanta velocidad como sentido y habilitó al movimiento de Vinicius Júnior que soltó un zapatazo casi impropio de su amplio repertorio.

Toni Kroos ha ejercido de ancla del equipo Merengue en los partidos recientes y Ancelotti se decantó con enclavarle en dicha posición para el choque de hoy, los 80 millones pagados por Tchouameni no importan ahora y tampoco lo que Camavinga pueda ofrecer ahí si como lateral va cumpliendo con creces; Kroos fue el “cinco” de Ancelotti porque el italiano quería a Valverde en el terreno de juego, pero también necesitaba de Rodrygo, su magia y desparpajo por el flanco derecho. Al Real Madrid le va muy bien aquello de “hacerse el muerto y andar muy vivo” y toda vez que asestó el primer golpe, reconoció que el City no es tan bueno en fase defensiva como lo es en ofensiva, por lo que comenzó a buscarle las cosquillas a los de Guardiola. Mención aparte habremos de hacer de la encarnizada lucha entre Grealish y Carvajal por el andarivel, bien podría haber sido una gresca de algún barrio chungo de Madrid o Manchester.
Ya se mencionó lo importante que fue Camavinga para que el Madrid pudiera solventar con buen pie este primer choque, el frances, sin pelota, fungía de lateral y en posesión de a redonda se transformaba en un cuarto mediocampista que brindaba tanto soporte como aire a la medular de los de Ancelotti; pero su tremenda actuación no terminó de ser perfecta, una mala entrega suya en la salida de balón abrió la puerta para que el City elaborase una combinación que resultó en un pase retrasado de Gundogan para el proyectil que expulsó Kevin De Bruyne de su botín derecho, un misil teledirigido que sacudió el arco Merengue y silenció al Bernabéu.
El City empataba el encuentro cuando el Madrid era mejor sobre la grama del Teatro de la Castellana, devolviendo “la maldad” que los anfitriones habían hecho en la primera parte; a los Blancos les costó volver a la carga pero lo hicieron, buscaban el gol que les devolviese la ventaja para visitar el Etihad la próxima semana pero Ederson tapó un gran cabezazo de Benzema a pelota parada e hizo lo propio con un misil de Tchouameni que llevaba etiqueta de gol. El City firmó el empate como un botín decente de su expedición a la casa del Rey de Europa al que pretenden arrebatr el trono.

Ese error de Camavinga, sí que ha terminado por ser fundamental para que el City consiguiese el empate; ha sido un partido parejo con opciones para ambos. ¡Veremos que es lo que pasa en la vuelta en Manchester!

El partido estuvo raro, al inicio dominó el City pero como tímido y a Haland no le llegaba una buena, pero Pep juega así fuera de casa siempre, el de Vuelta estará mucho mejor segurisimo
