Chatting with a guy I've known since his early days in cycling, who, thanks to his great perseverance and self-discipline, has achieved incredible results. Both in terms of his physical condition and nutrition, as well as his results on the bike. My friend's name is Gonzalo, and I mention him because from now on, he will be more present in my sporting activities.
Charlando con un chico que lo conozco desde sus primeros días en el ciclismo, y que debido a su gran constancia, autodisciplina, ha tenido resultados increíbles. Tanto en la parte física y nutricional, cómo los resultados arriba de la bicicleta. El amigo se llama Gonzalo y lo nombro porque de aquí en adelante, estará más presente en mis actividades deportivas.



I told him that next year I plan to run Río Pinto, and among the many things he said, he suggested that I train in zone 2 during this first stage. If you can buy a heart rate monitor, he said, the results will be more accurate. In my case, I usually look at the data provided by the app to know what zone I'm in, but obviously it's not as accurate. And here comes the phrase I used in the title of my post, which is what Gonzalo told me. "Close your mouth." Although it might seem like it has to do with stopping eating, he meant that when I'm cycling with my mouth closed and can breathe well, it means I'm in zone 2.
Le comenté que el año que viene tengo pensado correr Río Pinto y entre las tantas cosas que me dijo, me sugirió con esta primera etapa entrene en zona 2. Si podés comprarte una banda con pulsómetro me dijo, dónde los resultados se reflejan con más precisión. En mi caso, normalmente me fijo en los datos que me da la aplicación para saber en qué zona voy, pero evidentemente no es tan preciso. Y aquí viene la palabra que coloqué en el título de mi post y es lo que me dijo Gonzalo. Cerrá la boca y si bien pareciera que tiene que ver con dejar de comer, se refería a que mientras voy pedaleando con la boca cerrada y puedo respirar bien, significa que estoy yendo en zona 2.




Another important point that struck me was the following: Try to go out training alone, so as to respect the zones. For safety reasons, I always try to go out with someone, but today the universe had other plans and I had to go out alone. I did a training session of approximately 40 km in a time of one hour and 40 minutes, respecting the zone as Gonzalo told me to. I felt really good and could have kept going, but tomorrow I might go for another ride, and since it's Sunday, I might go a little further.
Otro punto importante que me acoto fue lo siguiente : Intenta salir solo a entrenar, de manera de respetar las zonas. Por un tema de seguridad siempre intento salir con alguien pero hoy el universo se completó y tuve que salir solo. Realicé un entrenamiento de aproximadamente 40 km en un tiempo de una hora 40 y respetando la zona como me dijo Gonzalo. Realmente me sentí muy bien y podía seguir más, pero mañana quizás salga otra rodada y como es domingo con un poco más de distancias.



Another important factor that I am also taking into account is nutrition. When traveling with the family, sometimes you eat at odd times and meals that may not be appropriate. That's why I arrived and made my own dinner. Zuni didn't seem to like the appearance of my dish 😂, but believe me, it was delicious. Water and rest, I know that tomorrow we will try to do more than 100 km. Río Pinto awaits us next year, and since I am a firm believer that everything is causality and not coincidence, we have to start working now.

Otro factor importante que también estoy teniendo muy en cuenta es la nutrición. Acoplados a los vivenes de la familia, en ocasiones uno come en horarios que no corresponde y comidas que quizás no son las apropiadas. Es por eso que llegué, y me realicé mi propia cena. A Zuni como que no le gustó la apariencia de mi plato 😂, pero créanme que estaba delicioso. Agua y a descansar, sé que mañana intentaremos hacer más de 100 km. Río pinto nos espera el año que viene, y como soy un fiel pensador de que todo es causalidad y no casualidad, tenemos que empezar a trabajar desde ahora.
Espero estén pasando un genial fin de semana y a ponerse en movimiento, ya que como siempre decimos, no hay nada más lindo que estar en forma.
Por cierto, las moras luego del entrenamiento estuvieron realmente deliciosa.
