Always expect the unexpected on a #wednesdaywalk

So it was raining and we took a walk on the beach.
226.jpg

The birds didn't mind the wet and neither did some others.

We are expecting cold and wet weather for the rest of the week, as winter has finally landed. I don't know many people who will go out in the rain, but for us it is an adventure. It is also seen as an adventure by some others as you will see below.
Come walk with us and let's see what we can get with my camera.

This is a #Wednesdaywalk post and it is also suitable for #featheredfriends as there are some birds in it.

What? A kite surfer was out in the wind and further out there was a sail surfer.
171.JPG

This was the kite handler crashing through a wave.
193.JPG

Look how the side wind lifted the sail surfer out of the water.
195.JPG

Just to show you what the light was like and it was pretty dark.
Not very good for photography, but I think I did okay.
230.JPG

A shot further to the left of where we were standing.
207.JPG

Things were getting a bit more serious regarding the rain, and it was time for us to pull out.
282.JPG

This Cormorant had the same idea, and I waited for him to fly across the face of the signal mountain.
289.JPG

So yes, we are not quite mad to go out in the rain, and at times we are lucky to see some action when we are out at the beach. Like today for instance as many others also enjoy the conditions in the rain and the wind. The birds, of course, are all out to eat whatever they can get as they know the night is going to be cold. They need full tummies to endure the conditions. I feel for the people in the poor areas as Winter is always a struggle for them, but we do what we can to support the feeding schemes.

I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

And That's All Friends.

5 years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Dont we pay them to stop shit like this? The NSA, CIA, FBI, Police and our Government has done nothing. Just like they did with the Havana Syndrome, nothing. Patriot Act my ass. The American government is completely incompetent. The NSA should be taken over by the military and contained Immediately for investigation. I bet we can get to the sources of V2K and RNM then. https://peakd.com/gangstalking/@acousticpulses/electronic-terrorism-and-gaslighting--if-you-downvote-this-post-you-are-part-of-the-problem

Talk of snow in the mountains throughout the country once again, sure looking forward to the cooler weather, fun being out when not many venture beyond their door.

Water sports never affected by weather, these guys are out most days!

Cool photography on your Wednesday walk!

Yes and we are also expecting snow on the mountain tops here. Nice cold and wet today and our highest temp for the next two weeks is ideal at - 20C.
Best times to go out methinks.

You are right and I love how they handle the wind and the waves, That Atlantic water is icy cold, but they all wear body suits that protect against the cold. The only place when I walk in the water and my toes turn blue, so I think that I have chameleon toes that can change color to suit their surroundings :)

Thank you Lady Joan and glad that you appreciated the post.

Cold enough especially when living inland without anything to heat the home, my sister said they are feeling it already. Down here in Durban it never gets that cold, always welcome the change.

Pity we don't place powers that be in white jackets that slowly squeeze them blue, not chameleon blue either, for those who do not do what is right by the people!

As long as the toes turn pink after being blued out you OK 😅

Oh yeah, we often went down to Durban during the Johannesburg winters. Felt like another world.

Hahaha, maybe orange overalls will suit theM better.

Yep! It will be a real worry if they stay blue.

Happy Friday, another warning of heavy rain tomorrow with possible flooding.... Really hope not..., this place has not recovered yet irrespective of what media tell you!

Water tankers still doing the rounds where areas have no water, if ESKOM switch off electricity (still intermittent with repairs ongoing) we have major problems with water filling reservoirs, still being repaired or replacing burst pipes.

Assistance from outside provinces in search and rescue returned home this week, still missing around 88 people with 448 dead recovered at last count.

!BEER cleaner and safer to drink 😃

Yep! I saw the scenario in the news and I also saw that KZN will have much loadshedding.
I don't know why they cannot increase our province's power cuts and rather spare you guys, as a lot of repairs have to take place there.

A real slaughter methinks.

Me thinks we down the sluice no return, led by unqualified poepol's, blind leading the blind patting each other on the back.... Ja/Nee

Now wet, real heavy rain so far all morning with wind chilly 19C with some lightning, no work will resume in these conditions irrespective.

So many not housed now in for a cold few days!

We have just been switched back on again and as I opened I saw that there are mudslides again in Umdloti. Lizzie is also worried about her neighbors house, as no repairs have been done there yet.
The new Level 4 power cuts are not good for man or beast.

Ballito, Umdloti, Pinetown, Isipingo exceptionally hard hit, still battling to get water and electricity from previous floods into our areas.

Please take note, this morning and late yesterday.
Umgeni road flooded.
Higginson highway flooded.
Bayhead and Southcoast road flooded.
Parts of Bluff are flooded.
Parts of Isipingo is flooded.
Pinetown is flooded.
M7 got lot water and mud on roadway.
M13 got lot of water and mud on roadway.
M19 out of Umgeni mud slides and lots of water.

Would love to know where the Zulu Nation Trust Fund - Ingonyama Trust, is in helping the people?

May is normally our dry month of the year going into winter, who mentioned climate change?

Makes terrible reading Lady Joan and yes many of these things and even worse are waiting for all of us.
One would think that proper planning will take place, but I don't know so much.

We have another power cut now at 6pm, but I squeezed this reply in. See ya later.

Yep, I know that it's no sports for you, but I just had to show what was going on at the sea on a rainy day.

In a few years time I will wait for you to arrive in the van and then we will visit all of my places 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Yep, and it's cool ... to view. I have a friend in Canada who also takes photos of surfers - in Winter, in Canadian Winter 🌡️
As said in my other reply - 182 hours nonstop driving and I'm there, but I don't even need a van because I don't have any time to sleep anyway 😉

Or even turn it into a calendar and the profits go to your charity.
A contest first to get 12 photos… and hhhmmm interesting thought do pop up here.

They call the thoughts entrepreneurship in the planning stages and you certainly have some very innovative ideas. To put it into action though will be difficult for me, but I have some friends here on hive that I can ask if they know how to make a calendar.
A different photo can be placed above every month accrediting the 0wners and I think that it can be a winner for 2023. Brilliant idea! 😊

!PIZZA

We sure could create it… many options online nowadays for a calendar. I have a printshop for my art and photographs so it is nothing new. Just a calendar option I have not. But there are companies out there that can help. Even create one on demand. So you don’t have to buy say 1000 calendars. A buyer can order, they create it and send to the buyer.
I helped many moons ago making one for the classic mini club. It is doable. 😎

Exactly, one photo per months and a credit the photographer. And to get really good ones we could hold a contest and the best 12 win a spot. Still enough time for a 2023 calendar 🗓

Some more good ideas here so let me think about it and maybe if you don't mind we can kick it off and see what happens. I like the idea of a contest.

I have to figure out a few things first. Who is going to post the calendar? How will the income of the posts be split? Who is going to manage the correspondence (replies etcetera)? and a few other things.

Let me have your thoughts about this 😊

!PIZZA

Ok, understand @papilloncharity

If we choose one of the on demand printing services… that company ships the calendar when a customer buys it. So no need for stock that way. We provide a link to the finished calendar on their website to order.
Think we also order one first calendar, to see it in real life and photograph for our post to spread the word. “Yearly hive calendar”

If another way, a printing service, we order x amount of calendars. Than we need to do the shipping etc.
maybe after a post how many people would like one. So we can gather initial numbers… more can always be ordered of course.

For replies, we could create a community for the yearly hive calendar, the contest, questions post where we answer questions that is pinned to the top etc.
Happy to help in any way there 😉

Are we including our photographs too? Or just 1 page additional, next to the 12 chosen ones. On maybe this is the charity page info… as that definitely should be included. As your photograph started this hahaha maybe also some info about what is Hive.
Would be nice to make the photographers also a beneficiary in some way. Or if they agree the charity. Or just the rewards of the contest post or … thinking out load.
We need to think about that bit more.

Maybe even go to large department stores if they want to stock some. More ideas popping up. But let’s do some basics first.

Are you on discord? To talk more private.

Its good your observant enough to watch the clouds and know when its time to get out of there before the rain, many dont and get caught by surprise

I never tried surfing which is kind of strange as its very popular back in NZ, just never got around to it, but if I was younger i like you would want to be out there

Even knowing the clouds still leave me getting wet at times JJ, as our weather can change in a few minutes. We are exposed to the moody Atlantic ocean and right next to it is the Indian ocean on our province's coast line. So it's always a matter of "if", "or" 🤣

Same here my friend, but my excuse is that we lived very far away from the sea. Now that we live close to it, I am too old 😉
