RE: Sports OCD Curation Weekly Update

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

Thank you for all that you've done to improve sporting content on Hive both in #sportstalk and through OCD! The work you do curating for OCD has certainly been instrumental in helping users see value in sharing sporting content on the chain which I think is needed for continued growth of the wider market.

I won't speak to specifics since I don't know which match posts you're referring to but I actually like match reviews. I think there's a lot of value in becoming a hub for conversation around matches and game reviews. That being said it needs to be original work and not just a copy of some AP article.

As for curation changes I am in complete agreement that LEO has proven that model and it's something I would support. I think it's something we should take comment on from the community at whole and implement as soon as possible. I think it's clear it helps build engagement when you are rewarded for doing so.

How do you feel about burn projects like @sportsburn for the token economics? I've debated updating the daily curation report to include burn comments that users could upvote. That way if there's nothing you see worthwhile for the day you could upvote those comments knowing that the author portion will be burnt while still retaining your stake of inflation in the curation.

Thanks Patrick. Burn posts have their place and will always be supported as they are important to try and help gain value for the token over time.
I think Sports is at a point that we need to change the curation in order to boost engagement and support new users. Quality is improving and sports is going from strength to strength right now and long may it continue.

What's your full opinion on @sportsburn maybe we should hear your side first.

To me, it's doing what could have been done in awhile. The reward on the post is sent to null, so is the hive reward also used to buy sports and it's sent to null too as you can see on the page.

I think the best mode of burning is the one initiated by Neoxian. Automatically, 10% of each person's sports reward is sent to null. You can imagine how much will be sent to NULL in a day, we might be talking of millions here, in a day. If this comes to place, there won't be need for @sportsburn again.

But most importantly is the engagement, and ways to give value to the token in the market also is lack of road map from you.

I will really be happy if you can bring up update, real working updates.

I am fully supportive of burn comment functions. I think it's an option for stakeholders who feel there was no other content worthy of a vote for that day to retain their share of inflation while still having a content option to vote and retain their voting rights. It's another reason I would personally be in favor of moving to linear rewards at the moment.

I really like that @sportsburn is providing another option to burn daily. The point of my question was to see what was thought about adding additional comments to @sportstalksocial's daily curation report that were designed solely for this purpose. While that might appear spammy to some I feel that would add an important feature to SPORTS of saying no content for that day is worthy of a vote and that you want your share of author inflation for the day to be burnt.

I don't see the point in automatically burning other than to run up your stats. Why not just lower inflation by 10% if it's automatically being removed? I like the concept of giving each stakeholder the option of what they want to do thus why I was inquiring if adding such comments would appear by the community as spammy.

I think in the current model of Hive Engine not offering a voting cooldown period that linear would increase engagement. I think this is something worthy of having a discussion of on the main account to seek objections or confirmations of.

As for updates did you see that we've added support for suggested tags? This will help new users that get confused by the tag structure to identify their post for common tags of curation. Outside of that there are a few projects that I'm supporting or working on personally but nothing substantial enough to update to. Is there anything in particular you want to see added?

Thanks a lot for this.

This is something @sportsburn is also planning to do. But as it is, we still don't have enough votes on a post to compel people to upvote our comment, maybe when we reach a steady 100,000 sports upvote. We plan to involve comment

Why not just lower inflation by 10% if it's automatically being removed?

If I understand this fully well, I think I agree with it. This solves almost all the problem

I saw it, it's very beautiful. Kudos to you and your team

Please, I'll beg you to focus on sports for now, this platfrom needs you more than you think, dust is gathering in here when you're silence about many thing.

Is there anything in particular you want to see added?

Bringing up more use cases and dapps, Rabona and more games,
going to actifit to tell them, "hey, you can use our tag, but please write nothing less than 100 words".
Create a Twitter page of sportstalk to showcase the best of our works in here and make others works known.
A call for sport articles in some field (we haven't covered all aspect of sport and they are on demand)
Step into the shoe of Leofinance and lots more.

Overall, you're doing well.
