Con drama no me refiero a otra cosa más que al aspecto dramático –no estoy seguro de que sea una redundancia, pero diré "valga la redundancia"– que parece haber adoptado todo lo relacionado al entorno del fútbol venezolano. Hoy las noticias sobre legionarios o el fútbol local no tienen como prioridad goles ni victorias, ni cosas así. Eso quedó relegado a una pequeña casualidad entre semana, y es que "victorias" y "Venezuela" no van muy de la mano últimamente. Hoy decir "Vinotinto" parece ser más referente a polémicas de redes sociales, malos resultados, excusas y –si apuntamos más arriba– corrupción, impagos e improvisación.

Esta última, la improvisación, madre de todo lo que se hace mal, sin dudas es la principal responsable del desastre que hoy es la selección de fútbol de Venezuela (obviando quiénes concibieron a esta maldición). De ella deriva todo. Destruyó el leve progreso que alguna vez la Vinotinto mostró y la transformó en el desastre que es actualmente. Ahora esta selección de fútbol se hunde en una espiral en la que ya cayó en el pasado. Las eliminatorias de Conmebol son para la Vinotinto un paseo, o más bien una fiesta a la que asiste vestida en zapatillas de cenicienta.

Quizá alguien podría leer "cenicienta" y aterrarse, esgrimir que Venezuela "ya no es" eso, que nunca lo será, eso y demás comentarios relacionados con chauvinismo más que con uso de razón. Es peor, por sobre todo, porque la Federación Venezolana de Fútbol, que siempre fue corrupta, hoy es algo más, va un poco más allá de la corrupción, que por sí sola es voraz y destructiva. Es una entidad más criminal que organizativa, con un accionar semejante al de mafias. Es, en fin, una federación solo en el nombre, y la selección venezolana que competía y demostraba que podía aspirar a más es, cuando mucho, un recuerdo que un servidor atesorará, porque está convencido de que nunca volverá a ver una Vinotinto así.
