D-day for Club Brugge in Uefa Champions League

Kill Zenit

Just about 6 weeks ago Club Brugge won in and against Zenit St. Petersburg with 1-2. A last minute goal by Charles De Ketelaere sealed the deal. After that Club Brugge only won two more games, both in the Jupiler Pro League. But it all went a bit downhill. Two big losses against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, where they were outplayed by a mile, and scoreless draw against the last team of the Jupiler Pro League, Mouscron, show that Club Brugge is struggling.

So, tonight it is money time for them at home against again Zenit. A win seals at least the third place in the group, and still gives Brugge options to go through in the Uefa Champions League to the knock-out phase. The last time a Belgian club could pull that through is already five years ago, with KAA Gent.

But more is depending on it, if Brugge want to stay on top in Belgium they will have to break this poor run. They already lost the top position to Beerschot-Wilrijk last weekend. And the competiion is closing in. A key game tonight, to show the world that Club Brugge are a team not to mess with! Or not?

Sincerely,
