I noticed that the audience at bicycle races is very close to athletes, but that shouldn't be the reason or excuse for aggression toward them! It's just crazy to do it! Why the heck would you spit on some athlete?? Jealous of its success? Cheering the opposite team?

It's ridiculous and very disturbing... Don't know how to explain that kind of behavior... Maybe mainstream media could be one of the biggest causes as they, literally spreading hatred all the time... It amazes me how much hate comes out from regular TV news... 😤

That's the beauty of the sport I think. Being that close to the athletes!
But indeed, that shouldn't be a reason for agression. In fact, it should be a reason to behave better.

Maybe mainstream media could be one of the biggest causes as they, literally spreading hatred all the time...

Sadly it's indeed becoming the overall trend; in ('social')media, politics, sports, traffic.
If we see politicians calling each other names on TV or online for all kinds of things, what kind of example is that?
