The next farewell of an idol

Miguel Cabrera was born in Maracay, in the La Pedrera sector and in the yard of his house there was a baseball stadium, where since he was a child he fantasized about being a good player, in fact, he started that path when he was only three years old in a school run by his grandfather.

His formal education was full of demands and good examples, in fact, his neighbors always emphasize two things, order and respect and the support of his parents who every weekend accompanied him to the stadium.

He spent his childhood and adolescence in some baseball schools and local teams and was becoming visible and excelling until he participated in the Pan American Championship played in St. Louis in 1997, when he was 14 years old.

There he was the best shortstop, home run hitter, bat champion, slugger and infielder, awards that earned him several decorations in the country and his second award for excellence of the youth of Aragua.

The scouts put him in their sights and offers poured in, culminating when the young man's father, with the young man's support, decided to sign with the Florida Marlins on July 2, 1999 for a bonus of $1.8 million.

Three years later he married his high school sweetheart, Rosangel Polanco, and a year later he was promoted to the big leagues.

The money was not only useful for the young prospect but also for his family in Venezuela who were not in a comfortable situation and it is something that has prevailed over the years, that brotherly love with those who supported him and educated him.

He debuted with a home run to lead his team to the World Series, the third since 1900 to do so, and the Marlins were champions that year.

His record in a 19-year big-league career makes him one of the best ballplayers in baseball history and a sure Hall of Fame Hall of Famer when he retires.

His private life has been marked by mistakes and rectifications that have led him to detoxification programs for alcohol abuse, however, he has been an exemplary husband, father of five children, three in marriage, and together with his wife founder and patron of a foundation that helps sick children whose name is Miguel Cabrera Foundation, through which he once donated 25 thousand dollars to the Di Maggio hospital for special children's programs.

He has never forgotten his roots and every time he comes to his country he visits the neighborhood where he grew up and gives help to those in need, he is an inspiration to others who see in him an example to follow.

Her passion for the diamond is in fact a family inheritance since her mother was a member of the Venezuelan women's softball team for fourteen years, even participating in the world championship of the discipline staged in Taiwan in 1982, and also of different state teams such as Aragua, Carabobo and Lara, standing out for her good batting.

David one of his deceased uncles had a minor baseball school and together with his other brother Jose played at the professional level, the latter with the Tigres de Aragua.

In recent days he has stated that this year may be his last as an active player, ailments have overcome his love for the game and when that day comes, history will be extinguished and the legend will open.

We will have witnessed the best player in the history of baseball and we will feel proud, as we are already proud that this baseball giant was born in this Venezuelan land.
