Parks and Playgrounds - Ep1

So this will be the first in a series of Parks and Playgrounds in the South West of Western Australia. Down here we are fortunate enough to have a variety of really well maintained and thought about facilities, so let me show you my favourites and I'll start with one of the newest attractions that has been added. Hope you enjoy.

You can see why they call it the pirate park :)

The first one I'd like to show is called by my kids the 'New Pirate Park' but is actually called The Sykes Foreshore reserve playground in Bunbury, built on the foreshore to the Bunbury inlet. This is the newest addition to the area AFAIK and has been built with all the facilities you could hope for, including BBQ's and a toilet block, undercover shelters and park benches with plenty of shade and parking.

Sheltered BBQ and picnic tables with waste and recycling bins nearby

Large grassed areas with modern toilet block

This playground is well maintained and has a variety of activities and play equipment for all ages. Some are more testing than others but having a challenge is what makes a playground the most fun!
I particularly like the one with the 4 ropes hanging down that swings around lol

A variety of swings to cater for even the little ones with a fully enclosed seat for extra protection

A smaller play equipment set for the younger or less confident ones

You can see in the background the Bunbury inlet and there is a walking / biking trail that surrounds it which is another great out door activity for everyone

Just missing the broadside cannons! This obstacle course is more challenging than it looks and many a time have I had to recue those entangled within it's mesh

For the young minds that wish to imagine being out in the inlet

This one is a game where you spin the spinner and move your piece according to the spin result

Overall this playground has everything you need for a lovely day out, with shelter, toilets and bbqs all free to use and is one of my favourites to take the kids with ease of access and plenty of parking. The equipment is challenging but enough variety for all ages.

Hope you enjoyed my first instalment of Parks and Playgrounds

I like your idea of profiling local parks and playgrounds. It's like a public service! Place looks like great fun for a family

I'd climb up on that pirate ship for a look... just to test it, to uh, make sure it's safe, you know? Not like I'd have any fun up there... on the high seas... 😅

haha, it's funny you say that, when ever it's not busy and im walking the dog past, there is sometimes some young couples in there late 20's 'testing' out the play equipment :)
