Hello everyone 👋,
Happy hump day 😎🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. Its yet another 24 hours to be grateful for💯. I have had a great day and as it draws to a close am raring to go with my stepping activities and also share what's trending in the media streets. Thank you for reading and let's dive in 💨.
I kicked off the day with a few rounds of brisk walking around the neighbourhood. It was a chilly cloudy morning so I didn't stay out for long. The cold doesn't want to go away, it's like we are back to July. Anyways, I did enjoy my walk and was back indoors thirty minutes later. I then rested for a while, caught up with emails, watched the news and then the usual chores around the house.
My next stepping came later in the afternoon going to the shopping centre for some cooking groceries. Still a dull cloudy day as I made my way. It was nap time when I got back indoors, I woke up some time early evening and got on with the cooking, watching a little bit of news and youtube. Next came the evening or sunset walk, it looked like it would rain but it didn't and I made it back home safe and sound. Now let's quickly look at what has been trending in the news today.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going😹. The new president elect is getting ready to be sworn in next Tuesday, that inauguration ceremony will cost some outstanding figure which I think is just unnecessary. Then tomorrow the newly elected MP's and senators will be sworn in. Let them get to work and deliver what they promised on the campaign trail, they've been telling lots of lies😹.
Globally, the war in Ukraine still rages on. Ukranian soldiers have carried out successful counteroffensive raids trying to recapture Russian held areas around Kharkiv and also south in Kherson👏. Elsewhere, the EU has proposed putting price caps on oil and gas from Russia, Putin has said any application of price caps will lead to a total shut down of supplies from his country. In other news, UN nuclear watchdog has said it cannot verify if Iranian nuclear program is for peaceful purpose😱. Turns out they have been enriching uranium at a high rate. Meanwhile, Albania has cut ties with Iran after a cyber attack.
Across the pond in the US, the DOJ has said that some of the documents seized from Trump are so highly classified that even top officials aren't supposed to see😱, I wonder what the implications of that will be. Elsewhere in Brazil , it was independence day with president Bolsonaro blasting pollsters for their analysis that show former president Lula ahead of him in the upcoming October elections😹.
In crazy weather, heavy rain and landslides reported in Kasese, Uganda. Then a heat wave and wild fires reported in California, USA. Meanwhile in South Korea, a strong typhoon, caused lots of rain and flooding.
