Happy hump day 😎happy new year🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. Hopefully your January is coming along so well. Its yet another 24 hours to be grateful for. As the day draws to a close am raring to go with my stepping activities and also share what's trending in the media streets. Thank you for reading and let's take it away💨.
I kicked off the day with a few rounds of brisk walking around the neighbourhood. It was a cloudy morning as I made my way. I enjoyed the walk and then I was back indoors. I then rested for a while, caught up with emails, watched the news and then the usual chores around the house.
My next stepping came later in the afternoon going to the shopping centre for groceries. A sunny day as I made my way. It was nap time when I got back indoors, I woke up some time early evening and got on with the cooking, watching a little bit of news and youtube .Next came the evening or sunset walk, it looked like it would rain but it didn't and I made it back home safe and sound. Now let's quickly look at what has been trending in the news today.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going😹,
Globally, the devastation in Gaza strip kept going. Israel is concentrating air strikes on central and southern Gaza targeting residential buildings😿.
According to Gaza health ministry the death toll stands at 23,357😭.
Also trending, US secretary of state Anthony Blinken was in Ramallah, occupied west bank meeting with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas; discussing the future of Gaza.
Still in Ramallah, Palestinians held a rally thanking south Africa for launching application against Israel at the international Court of justice. The ICJ is to consider whether Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
The Israeli military has carried out airstrikes in Lebanon killing Hezbollah fighters in the village of Kfar Shubaa. Another war with Hezbollah is slowly brewing😿.
Not far off, the houthis are doing the most in the red sea🙀. Today the US says it shot down 18 drones and three missiles.
Across the pond, Ecuador trending due to gang violence. The recent attack on a tv station by masked men🙀. President Noboa has declared a war on armed gangs after days of violence across the country.
Finally, trending in crypto land. The SEC says its twitter account was hacked and the hacker wrote a message saying the bitcoin ETF had been approved😹. Gary Gensler has emphasized that the btc ETF is yet to be approved, so we wait😿.
