Happy hump day 😎🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. Its yet another 24 hours to be grateful for💯, the last Wednesday of March. I have had a great day and as it draws to a close am raring to go with my stepping activities and also share what's trending in the media streets. Thank you for reading and let's dive in 💨.
I kicked off the day with a few rounds of brisk walking around the neighbourhood. It was a cloudy morning as I made my way, it's been raining 🌧️ last night. I enjoyed the walk and then I was back indoors. I then rested for a while, caught up with emails, watched the news and then the usual chores around the house.
My next stepping came later in the afternoon going to the shopping centre for groceries. Still a cloudy day as I made my way. It was nap time when I got back indoors, I woke up some time early evening and got on with the cooking, watching a little bit of news and youtube .Next came the evening or sunset walk, it looked like it would rain but it didn't and I made it back home safe and sound. Now let's quickly look at what has been trending in the news today.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept going😹, the doctors' strike entered day 14 as they demand better pay and working conditions. Their unions still holding talks with the govt.
Globally, another deadly day in Gaza as Israel kept the airstrikes going in south and central Gaza despite the UNSC legally binding resolution🙀. 76 Palestinians killed in the last 24 hours 😿. The death toll since October 7 is now 32,490 dead😭.
Not far off in Lebanon, Hezbollah has fired a barrage of rockets into Israel after Israeli strikes that killed five people in towns in Lebanon🙀.
Let's go to Europe, into another war. Two Russian strikes on Kharkiv have left one person dead and several injured after residential buildings were hit🙀.
President Zelensky has called for more weapons to try and keep Russia at bay.
Across the pond in the US,the white house says it's working to set a date to reschedule meeting with Israeli delegation. Israel had cancelled the meeting after US refused to veto UNSC ceasefire vote😹. They now want to meet to explain how they plan to evacuate Rafa as they set out for a ground operation to get rid of Hamas.
Also trending, a lottery player in New Jersey has hit the literal jackpot on Tuesday. He or she has won $1.1 billion🎉. The winner will have the choice of receiving annual payments splitting the full jackpot amount or electing for a one time payment of $537.5 million. So lucky
In the Caribbean, Haiti trending as French nationals were airlifted out of the country. Gangs are wreaking havoc as a serious shortage of food and medical supplies is making the situation worse.
Speaking of the French, president Macron is in Brazil, met his counterpart, Lula da Silva. France and Brazil have announced a $1 billion plan to protect the Amazon.
Preservation of the amazon is crucial to help stabilize global climate. This is a great move💯.
